Northern Lights
Last night, here in northern Utah, I got to see the Northern Lights for the first time ever. I've never heard of them being visible this far south before, but they were mesmerising and I just couldn't come in-doors. Blue's greens, and reds were changing way until I finally went to bed well after 1:30 a.m. Anyone else happen to witness this?

RE: Northern Lights
Hobbit, you got me out there tonight looking for stuff that didn`t happen.

Thanks man!

I didn`t see what you did, but I had a blast just being out there and it didn`t bother me a bit I didn`t see the lights. I got to see the stars and that was just awsome!

Good on ya!

RE: Northern Lights
When in Utah near Moab, Me and two others grabbed a 6-pack and headed out to a canyon beside the road. We laid on the rocks, swizzled our libations and stargazed.

When Suzetta pointed out this portion of the sky while telling a story, suddenly a shooting star appeared from that same area and glided completely across the night sky. Seemed like it lasted forever.

Update: No lights in these Ohio overcast skys. The solar flares, at the one sunspot that is shooting us the beautiful solar radiation, is supposed to be one of the mst intense in a long time. I'm glad someone gets to see them 8)

RE: Northern Lights
Hobbit, I agree, they are mesmerizing. I saw them in Canada two years ago, and we couldn't stop watching them for several hours.

RE: Northern Lights
Hobbit, I saw your post Saturday, checked some reports on the internet, and talked to the guy who runs Hansen Planetarium here in Salt Lake. All evidence was the best place to see them was west of the city here. Gathered the wife and her family, drove out there after work and stared at the sky for an hour without seeing a thing. Plenty of stars but no lights.

Oh well. I had a nice time with the family and I'd never been on the road to Dugway before. Did you have any luck Griz? I missed the lights last year, too.

RE: Northern Lights
According to the meteorologist's best guess, september should bring some spectacular views of the Aurora. Stay tuned hey?
