I made it!!

“So, as some of you may(or may not) know, I went out to B.C. today to bring my kids home from their Spring Break at the ex's. I knew it was going to be a 14 hour round trip, so I figured I'd start at 0530hrs and get there early so I could be home that much earlier.

I'm cruising down the highway listening to the weatherman tell us how it's going to be cold & cloudy in the prairies(like it changes?!), raining on the coast & cloudy in the mountains with a chance of flurries. I think to myself, "Self, it's Springtime, how bad can it get?" The highway was bone dry for the first 450kms, I cruised at speeds well over the legal limit & life was good!

Well don't you know it, 1.5 hours away from my destination it starts to snow. Not just a little bit of snow, but great big 'I can't see 5 freekin feet ahead of me!' flakes. The prudent thing to do is slow down & drive really defensively, right? So I do. I've been creeping down the highway at 40kms/h(@20mph) for over 1/2 hour when out of the flakes I see this great big, dark shape looming in front of me. At first I thought it was a cliff face or wall of trees, but nooooo... it turns out to be a semi truck & trailer lying sideways across the whole highway!!

Well, needless to say, my first reaction is to hit the brakes, which sends my car into a spin. I wound up with the passenger side of my car buried in a snowpile while I tried to figure out what went wrong.

3 hours later, the towtruck had pulled me & about 10 other vehicles back on the road, the semi was once again upright & off the highway. I asked the cop what had caused the accident. Know what he said? The guy swerved to miss the crows scavenging on the roadway. ?!?!?!?!

Fortunately the rest of the trip was pretty mundane after that...”

“WOOOOA! What a Ride! I'm glad your OK. That trucker knew the crows gotta eat too. I hope the crows were OK also.”

“Wow, I`m glad you weren`t hurt.”

“Crazy trip. Glad you made it!!! We had big snowflakes for awhile here today too. Then they quit. Sun came out. I hear 50s are predicted for next week.”

Steve, I live in Edmonton, Alberta & drive halfway to Vancouver, BC at least 6 times a. The highway I take is usually very good. Saturday was the exception however!

Buddur, I remember Heckle & Jeckle from Saturday morning cartoons! And no WD, there were no crows harmed as far as I could see... LOL!”
