Marmot PreCip Jacket
I just got one--haven't had any rain lately, though. Anyone else have one? Raves/complaints?

RE: Marmot PreCip Jacket
BT, I picked one up about 6 weeks ago (used my REI dividend check for this one). I haven't "used" it yet, but I can tell you that I was pretty anal about researching potential candidates. For me, the only thing better than the Precip is something that hasn't been created yet.

I've read reviews, posts, ads, product descriptions, weight charts and packability reviews, as well as (of course) all kinds of articles, documents and so forth, regarding weight, water and moisture resistance. Given the wide range of potential hiking activity while wearing the Precip, reviews in this area should be seen as potentially subjective. Further, I don't have a personal experience to relate to you yet, but I'm satisfied with having done more than the usual research into this, and will most likely wear and use it without much complaint, if any. I made my decision, and I can live with that.

I like my precip, but it's really water resistant not waterproof. In a continuous heavy rain, it does let water through.

Wingding:

Where does this happen? IN areas where there is pressure such as the shoulders or all over?

Just curious, thanks.

The Precip doesn't breathe very well, but that can be said for all the waterproof breathables. Mine gets pretty clammy even in cold weather.

Last time I was in the rain I had my new Precip on, so it wasn't because it had been washed too many times. The water seeps through all over if you're in heavy rain for a few hours, but you stay warm as long as you keep moving. I don't think I'll buy another precip, but I'll keep this one for a while longer.

I was wondering about the Red Ledge jackets. Does anyone know how they hold up in the rain?
