First I want to thank all the e-mails of support. I understand most people comprehended the joke, understood from my previous postings I would never attack someone without first being attacked. Yes I know and I appreciate your concern. And as I said, Those people who matter to me matter to me, those who don't? (LOL)

Okay here is the apology (after long consideration and review)

Sass I apologize that the education system was so poor that comprehension was not encouraged in your generation. Being a bit older (birch there were 2 battalions in my time) I have heard and experienced a WHOLE lot more than that and learned these life experiences.

To Birch I reviewed the letters from Gayhiker and apparently he was the little whining brat using your alleged history as a threat. Much like the whiney little coward of the school yard he was goading me to make a response. I apologize for any insults to the men who wear the Black (sorry that was pre 1990s when the Black Beret was a source of pride) Tan beret. It is a destructive training and most often produces some of the finest leaders I have ever worked with.

Any misconstrued reference was unintentional and never intended to insult anyone involved. I always look at the background of an individual to determine their intentions or statements. I understand some of the Flamers on the left, and would probably hike with them becuase we all know our baseline.

Finally To the most wronged individual/being here. Chunks the Doberman, I am sorry for any reference to you in past or present. I realize how difficult your life has been with your name showing up in the joke. For anyone who didn't hear this joke it goes like this.

Three guys go on a bender one night. The next Monday at work the three are discussing the results of their fun.
The first guy relates how he got so drunk he puked in the hallway, wrapped his car around a tree and his wife is kicking him to the couch for a month.
The second guy relates how he drove his car through the garage wall, stumbled into the house and knocked over the saltwater fish tank then passed out on the floor. He has been staying at the Motel 6 since that night.
The third guy says..." I was so drunk when I got home I (and here it comes) Blew Chunks when I got home.
The other two are dumbfounded, "What's so bad about that?" They ask incredulously
The guy replies "Chunks is my Doberman."

Chunks was apparently thrown in this totally without his consent. It is a "dog name" that happens to have other connotations. So Chunks..dude, sorry.”

Let me refresh your ranger history. WWII had 4 batts, #1 was activated 19 june 42, the second I dont recall, the 3rd and 4th were activated 19 apr 43.

In Korea and Vietnam there were no batts rather companies.

25 Jan 74 1/75 formed
1 Oct 74 2/75 formed
3 Oct 84 3/75 formed
Later in 84 75th HHB formed.

Unless "your time" was pre 74 there were 3 batts.

Wrong again, the black Beret was lost by Rangers in 2000. Here is thread from TT where it was discussed...

I suggest you read " To Fight With Intrepidity" by Major John Lock. Its the authoritative history of Ranger history.

When did you serve, what unit? I was recently made aware that your military duty was an academy in your youth. No active duty or reserve. Any truth to this?

Being a Ranger was the hardest thing I ever did. Bar none.

To start with I have never insulted someone who did not start it out...granted some of the true heroes on this site like Ped, Marko et al ( I am included in there) pretty much have a running fued so there never needs to be a Start.
