“I saw on another thread that folks are interested in each other's bios. I've been checking out this site for a little while, but I'm relatively new to TT. For those who want to know:

I'm a 39 yr old Capricorn elementary school teacher from mid-coast Maine. I followed the Grateful Dead around for years, and to a lesser extent, Phish. This provided balance for an intense professional life. Last summer, I began seeking solace in the woods of Baxter State Park and fell in love with hiking and backpacking.

So, that's the brief version of my story. Hello to all you interesting characters in TT land.”

I'm 19, a student at Purdue University (I hater chicken), Eagle scout, Heavy into hiking and bping, becoming more so into biking, mountian biking and now running. Majoring in Atmospheric physics and dynamics. Major goals: Climb Everest and K2, run a marathon, complete an eco challenge, compete in a triathlon. Although I don't see me doing any of these for the next couple of years.”

Worked a dairy farm while in high school(6 yrs), slaughter house 2yrs and a large chemical company for the last 14.5 yrs (make sulfuric acid). Moved to Richmond, VA area in 1995. Taking classes two nights a week at the University of Richmond. Work 12 hr. swing shift. Backpacked in PA and upstate New York in my teens and early 20's. Just recently getting back into it. Married 27 years to a wonderful woman. We have 4 children. I am 4 months younger than Mel and we grew up a few miles apart. Live near Disneyland. Engineering Professor and perpetual student. My three oldest children all attend the university where I teach.

Spend part of my summers in the San Gorgonio Wilderness as a Forest Service Volunteer. Got to go on great Sierra treks with Mel and her llamas the last two summers. I spend lots of time at Disneyland with my 14 year old daughter who has Down Syndrome.

My mother has been divorced twice, and is married again, and is now happier than she's been in 25 years (or so she says), and I believe it.
