A great idea (part 2, foot wear)
Any one try Track spikes on the trail? They way nothing (like an ounce), and have 1/4 or larger or smaller spikes in the toe area.

What would the purpose be, if I may ask?

and they offer no support. One rock or any weight on your back and bye bye ankle. Also, aren't they as uncomfortable as hell to wear?

RE: A great idea (part 2, foot wear)
my ankles are strong, so thats not a problem. I'm just thinking with a lighter shoe you turn over your feet faster thus walking faster.

RE: A great idea (part 2, foot wear)
Why walk faster?

And what do you do with 1/4" long spikes when you come to a rocky section? It would be as stable as roller skates.

Tell you what, you go get some golf shoes and try it.

RE: A great idea (part 2, foot wear)
you want to go fast? Get some trail running shoes. They are lighter then boots, but still have the good points of boots. They are meant for low weight situations. I have a pair that I use for everyday shoes. They are heavier then running shoes, but a lot lighter then boots. My sugesstion is if you want to go fast on the trail, either learn to walk fast in boots or start mountain biking.

Hey, I wear spikes. They are 4" red stilletos, but funny thing, I can't seem to get past the bedroom when I have them on. I always get tackled by Lookingglass, lol.

Hey, there's a great store Uptown Minneapolis called St. Sabrina's Parlor in Purgatory, they have some pretty crazy looking fetish shoes and boots. They might even make your hike easier, find the right submissive person and s/he will carry you along the trail, set up your camp, cook your food, and let you spank them too.

Track spikes? I still have mine, but wouldn't wear them for any reason. Too flimsy, no support (ankle, arch, anything).

That's L i mpy, with an " i ". One of the reasons for the limp is a painful sole. Sometimes its like the princess and the pea. Alittle pebble without sturdy shoes, and I'm howling. Ouch!

Hey Oldie, haven't you bemoaned in the past about how you aren't able to get around the Twin Cities that much, but now you reveal you're familiar with the Uptown fetish wear shops? Boy, it is time you graduate and get out of Sodom, er Minneapolis. Just don't let Ice Tea walk on you. He has to learn to control his urges. LOL

Well, when your crew cops out on you, somebody has to carry the food and fuel. I had the biggest pack (lucky me). That had to be the day with the huge ass elevation change too.
