I printed the page that showed the tent for $32 and took it to one of the local Targets here in Miami. They where red taged at $69. I showed the kid at the service counter my print out, he went and spoke to a manager and then said no problem and sold it to me for the $32. Give it a try. Can't beat that price.

I wonder if anyone at REI
is shaking in their boots yet? I remember when I got my first gear.... a combination of JC Penney and Army surplus... I have "better" gear now but being on the trail is great regardless of the label

fasttimes, I asked someone in Customer Service if they would honor prices from the Target.com website, & they said no. Maybe I should try your strategy at a different store, or just whine louder and make a spectacle of myself until they give in. At that price, I would buy a couple of these tents & give them away for birthday gifts etc.

OmaHiker, I'd try another Target, it's probably up to whatever the manager on duty feels like saying. I had been prepared to tell a white lie and was going to say that I had called the number on the Web site and they told me to just go to the store and they'd honor it. But didn't have to take it that far. I just said: "I attempted to order the product online, but the Target distribution center must be out of the item. But I see that it is in stock here but for way more money, do you think I could get it for the Web price?" Kid who could care less on what is charged what said hold on, taked to the manager, and said no problem. Now you got me thinking I should of bought more of them.

Only Some Stores
When I got my GPS, I got a good sale price online, better than the local Circuit City. Well, CC says they'll honor the price any lower-priced item from another store, but when I tried that with a price I got online, they said they don't honor Web prices. So I got it off the Web...for like $40 cheaper.

This is the Rokk version of the EB pack that I just bought for $34.99. It was the last one on the shelf and had no price tag. I think it is a great deal - too bad it is too short for me. Looks like She Coop has a new pack.

Sorry, I guess you will have to be patient. I have a Target right by my work, I have been stopping in about every other day to check the prices. I got 2 of the tents, I figure at that price they will make great gifts. Almost bought a child carrier, just cause it is such a steal at that price, but I don't have any grandkids yet so it would be kinda hard to explain to my husband why I "needed" it. I still might get some snowshoes, you can always use more poles (when my friends see me using them they always want to borrow them), and at that price it is like getting new poles with the snowshoes thrown in for nothing.

I used the EB tent 6 nights this year. I have been generally pleased with this tent. Extremely easy and quick to set up (proved to be important during a 35 degree rain); did not leak; and was tolerable for two 6'4" hikers (I shared this tent with my boss for 4 nights).

The down side is that with two adults in this tent, the condensation was really bad if you do not leave the interior flap open at least half way down. The first night out, we zipped the tent up completely and it was like a rain forest in there the next morning. By the fourth day, we had figured out how to vent it just enough to stay warm without creating a jungle atmosphere.

Last weekend, I used the tent on a solo hike and had plenty of room for me and gear. The vestibule is ample. With one person, condensation was virtually non existant.

Overall, I am pleased and at the price, I am very happy with the tent.

A little different story than Chili36's
Got one of those tents for the $32.44 price and used it for 3 nights last weekend, just me, with the door open part way and had plenty of condensation. Droplets were poised to fall on me even from the "permeable" tent roof. I left the rainfly about 1/3 unzipped, too.

I will grant that the air prolly had plenty of moisture so am still in testing mode on this tent. Heck, for the price it's worth playing with & so far I like it alright otherwise. A few inches of wet, heavy snowfall the last morning didn't bother it.

Coleman for Kids 25* Explorer mummy bag: cruised thru a Target today and picked one up at $9.90 for my little niece. She'll be thrilled! Looks like a good quality kid size bag, too.

Hey cow patty, that is a great deal on that sleeping bag! I have a very short adult friend that uses one, plus I own one that I loan out to "extra" kids that go camping with us, and it's a surprisingly good bag for the money. Probably weighs about 3.5 lbs., a tad heavy but not too bad for a cheap, warm bag. It's fairly compressible too which I have found to be unusual in really cheap bags. Didja get the free flashlight too? I think I got one with the bag that I bought.

I remember DEVO. I actually owned one of their albums(in the time before cd's) when I was in college.

I'm off to Target tonight after work. I have to buy more cacti and succulents to plant in my yard because I don't want to have to stay home on the weekend and work on a lawn. Usually, I can find some pretty nice plants in their nursery.

EB 2man BP tent
I'm more of a deal-hunter than a BP'er. My local Target has a half dozen of the Eddie Bauer backpacking tents for $24.94 each. As I've seen many of the people posting here have noticed, Target stores don't all follow the same clearance schedule. If your Target still has the tent for $50+, just try checking back in a week or two. You still might get lucky. PS. Valentine's Day stuff goes on clearance today. :)

I just got the tent too,, set it up, and like it( for $25), but I can see where some may have a problem with condensation. To me, it looks more 4 season than 3 with the full length fly, but I'm not impressed with the flat section on the top,, looks like snow won't shed and water may pool if you're not careful. The end vents are pretty small, so I think that's where folks are getting a problem with condensation , the foot side of the tent is a screen opening, with no way to cover it except the fly. I made up some stick spreaders to keep the fly away from the screen, I think this will solve the condensation thing. I don't know how Chili fit 2 without cabin fever, but I'm glad for ya! I'm an on my back sleeper, and it'd be a tight fit for 2, fortunately, I got it for solo anyway.

I kept checking my Target and the Eddie Bauer b-ping tents were gone a couple of days ago. Went back today and noticed they had put them back on the shelf and it said $79.00...I thought to myself...I'm gonna scan it anyway...it came up $ 24.94 Yipeeeeee!!! Makes a nice tent to loan friends when you drag them along and they don't own any gear.

While I was there I noticed one of the Eddie Bauer large family camping domes.(10'x 12'x 76" sleeps 6 )..scanned it and it was only $42.44 I bought it too, our old one is pretty shot.

I went looking for the tent but my Target had run out so no luck there. However, my wife and I are expecting so I checked out the baby carrier (like someone here said) and sure enough the tag said $70 (marked down from $150) but when I scanned it it was only $35. 'Schwing!' - Oh wait - I'm going to be a father soon so - 'that's super!'

Picking out backpacking gear is, for most of us with modest means, a tradeoff between quality and cost. I always figure that the pack and the boots are the two most important pieces of equipment, followed by the tent and the cookstove.
If the boots and the pack break down, it's a long carry barefoot and lugging the gear.
The tent has to hold up under pelting rain, and the stove has to cook.
In that order, I am willing to spend big bucks. As I move down, I may try to save a few.

I thought I lost my nylon raingear
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where After you bought a replacement for something you\'ve lost and searched for everywhere, you\'ll find the original? that was my case
