Rice-A-Roni “I need your help; I found a great product that is no longer sold in Calif.. It is the Rice-a-Roni Express. It differs from the regular Rice-A-Roni in that it comes in a bag (like the freeze dried meals), not a box. It takes only 5 minutes to cook. It only needs to be added to boiling water, with butter, to cook. It is the perfect quantity for 1 person. It is cheap, about 99 cents/package when I bought it. I called Rice-A-Roni and they said that they do not do phone orders- they said they only sell to thier distributors. So, have any of you folks seen this stuff on your store shelves. I would love to purchase a box of it via one of you. We could exchange emails and phone numbers and you ship it to me C.O.D.. Please reply...... to Hungry in California.” 11:15:12 AM 4/10/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “Oops, I wrote box, I meant case.” 11:17:07 AM 4/10/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “I'll look.” 12:13:16 PM 4/10/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “...the San Fancisco treat!” 2:08:40 PM 4/10/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “LEFTY!!! I changed jobs, ended a wonderful relationship, started a new relationship. Just the normal 'life' stuff. Has anyone heard from Gentle Ben. Did he ever continue that great story of his? Have you been on any trips lately? How's Mel?” 2:47:36 PM 4/10/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “lefty, you should try asking your nearest big grocery store to order you a case. I've heard where people have done that to get products they don't see on the shelves. I've been meaning to ask my grocer to order me Italian products, but the ones I want have a short shelf life, and I wouldn't be able to finish a case them that quickly. I wanted to ask my grocer, if they would take some of the case, but I haven't yet.” 3:04:06 PM 4/10/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “Fleming (my grocery supplier) quit carrying that stuff at least a year ago. My assumption was that it did not sell too well. It was about 20 cents more money for a couple of ounces less than the regular stuff. Not a good buy but it was great for camping food. I made some of their red beans and rice (the long cook stuff)not long ago and I dried the leftovers. All I had to do was add hot water in my ziplock and it was good. I don't know if they make more flavors, but Kroger stocks Broccoli and Cheese, and Chicken flavor.” 8:14:55 PM 4/10/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “m-nutz I would love to order some of it through you. I could send you some cash along with my address. I could even send you a shipping box to mail it to me in. Let me know what you think, BTW, those two flavors are my favorites. What state do you live in?” 11:00:23 AM 4/11/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “I thought this thread was going to be about riced-out japanese boy-racer cars. BORING” 11:02:16 AM 4/11/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni “lefty - I didn't make it to Kroger today, so still not sure on price. I could send you some, soon as I get prices I'll let you know. We'll figure out shipping cost and all that. I live in Illinois. My e-mail is mark@backpacker.com.” 11:43:13 PM 4/11/01 RE: Rice-A-Roni 5:17:14 PM 4/17/01
