Pamster's new girl
I'm so excited I had to share!

We have been working with the local Sheltie rescue group to find a special dog in need of a home.

Friday night the rescue rep called and asked if we would take in a new dog as a foster. They had between 4 and 10 dogs entering the program over a two day period. We had originally planned to adopt after a dog was in the program and had been evaluated.

My heart turned to mush and I agreed. It was a whirlwind trying to get plans together to meet the volunteer who rescued this dog from a shelter in a county 4+ hours away.

Butthead and Beavis saved the day when they sweetly offered to alter their plans and add 2 extra hours on to their drive to meet the Sheltie rep.

Our new baby arrived Sunday night with a new name firmly attached. Bali is our little girls name. She's 1-2 years old and beautiful! She has totaly enchanted our family!

Here's a link to her pictures if you're interested. Bali”

What a beautiful girl she is. Do you need to line up baby sitters so you can get out and hike or will she go with you?

Pamster, that's one beautiful dog. I have to commend you on picking one from the pound. AmyG also got her dog from the pound.

I'd like to chop off the heads of people that get pets, and return them to a shelter or just let the animal run loose hoping for them to never return.

Beautiful puppy! I also have 4 rescued animals, and they are so special. It's a pleasure to watch them learn to trust and love again. Mine were all abused and are now healthy, mind and body. Good for you giving her a home!

RE: Pamster's new girl
hyper, I think the Sheltie is considered to be a miniature collie, but I may be wrong. Typically, miniature versions of dogs are stilled named after their larger versions.

We rescued a mutt from the pound, and after much research we found out what breed he is...a Yorkshire Terrorist!!
Have fun!

RE: Pamster's new girl
Congrats on the baby.
I wish I could do more about being a home for pets. But John is unhappy enough as it is with three cats and five llamas.
I happen to live in a ski resort community where the population is transient.
The problem with transient populations is that most of them are kids up here for one season.
They get up here, promptly get a dog (s), or cat (s), then leave town and abandon the animals at the end of the season. That's about seven months.
It just breaks my heart to see so many animals dumped in this irresponsible fashion.

RE: Pamster's new girl
Thank to all for the well wishes!

Lipstick, Shelties aren't miniture Collies. They come from similar stock and some, ie. Bali are colored just like a Collie but they are very different dogs. Bali is also extra large for a sheltie, 17" at the shoulder and 21 pounds! So she really has that Lassie look.

hyperpacker, LOL! TWB started whistling the theme song from "Lassie" whe he saw Bali for the first time! Now he whistles "Bali High".

MaryPhyl, I've got offers for free doggie sitting from my sis and two neighbors already!

jerbear, I just had the quickest gestation period there was and had a four legged baby that is already pottie trained! LOL!

i-am-om, many wet puppy kisses back to you from Bali

I am hoping that she will eventually be a trail hound. She's going to take some work before that happens. She won't be at Wilson Creek:-( She is still working on answering to her new name and figuring out the dog door (what a riot that is to watch). She is however house broken (yeah!) and very smart. We are planning to start her in an obedience class in June. With her personality she might have to do some therapy work here at the hospital.

Can't tell I'm a proud new mama, can ya? *wink*

All these rescued pound puppies is awesome. Buddur was a mangy vagrant streetwalker before he adopted me...I think he made the right choice 8)
