East - West Salvos “On the Kings Canyon thread, Walkindude had the audacity to ask "where is Kings Canyon?" to which someone asked "You're kidding, right?" Dude's excuse for his ignorance was that he is an Easterner. Makes sense to me. I didn't know the whereabouts of KCNP, either... Soooo..... that got me thinkin' O8= I'll ask someone to identify the location of an Eastern destination, to which ONLY Westerners can answer. The Westerners will ask Q's that only Easterners can answer. The Official Scorekeeper will, well, keep score. Here goes my Eastern destination: "Cumberland Island" heheheee!” 12:39:43 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Dunno. But I bet Sarabelle will sniff yer butt there!” 12:44:26 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Isn't that a National wildlife seashore with the beautiful paper mill belching filth into the sky and water just across the bay? Just kidding. I'm a west coaster and have been to Cumberland several times. Love it. Though I was sad to see it become so popular after JFK Jr. got married there. Glad I spent some time on it it when it was still "unknown."” 12:48:07 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Where's a Q, rosie? C'mon! Try to stump us - I double-dog dare ya!” 12:54:21 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Where's the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness? No fair using a search engine, either.” 1:00:09 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Is that an East or West destination?” 1:03:25 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Oregon, Where is Pine Creek Gorge?” 1:04:17 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Define West. Oldie thinks he's in the west. Is minisoooota west?” 1:07:39 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Oregon? Partial credit. In the Blue Mountains of Washington and Oregon. Pine Creek? Is there a state in the U.S. without a Pine Creek? :P” 1:19:45 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “kleetn -- state without a pine creek? My guess would be Hawaii, since conifers are not native there.” 1:32:41 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Hey! I knew Wenaha (I woulda GUESSED Oregon) . Belle has a Wenaha Pack, and I later spied the Wilderness on a website. East - "Cheaha Wilderness" (may be a tuffy!)” 1:32:48 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “So now we're going obscure. Kings Canyon is not obscure, it's is undeniably one of the jewels of the NP system on par with the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Denali, Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone and the Smokeys. It is the epitome of wilderness, I dare anyone to descend the Murro Blanco! and do the 10 miles in less then 2 days. Now here's obscure, west of the Mississippi: Porcupine Creek State Recreation Site, any takers?” 1:52:29 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “In which State will you find the Oregon Trail? No fair using a search engine, kleety” 2:06:11 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Porky Cr. SRS? hmmm... State stuff? That IS obscure! (At least Cheaha is within a NF) Porky - Iowa!?” 2:35:29 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “elitist spitting contest... my wilderness is better than your wilderness... have fun, that's really all that matters...” 2:43:38 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Pine Creek Gorge might just be "The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania". Any of you been to Wolf Gap?” 3:01:54 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “You just might be correct Tom.” 3:09:25 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Porky - Nevada?” 3:56:28 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Did the west rim trail last year Baume” 8:25:11 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Joyce Kilmer- Slickrock Wilderness?” 8:50:56 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Guana State Park” 8:54:33 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “This midwesterner knows that the joyce-kilmer is in western north carolina not far from fontana dam and village where we stayed last memorial day. This is really getting obscure...but what about "the road to nowhere"?” 9:42:29 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Porcupine is up in Alaska, not too far south from Tok.” 10:06:57 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Oregon Trail. Begins in Independence Missouri, heads to Lawrence and Topeka Kansas, then up through Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.” 10:43:03 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Most of the Santa Fe Trail is in which state?” 10:44:01 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “You got it UTAHIKER. Good Job. I've got no clue where the road to nowhere is.” 10:47:06 PM 4/16/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Thousand Lakes Wilderness” 12:11:30 AM 4/17/01 RE: East - West Salvos “CC, can I answer that one?” 2:39:31 AM 4/17/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Dunadan, Santa Fe is in New Mexico, right? I'll go with New Mexico.” 2:59:58 AM 4/17/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Cheaha Wilderness is within the Taladega NF, AL. Where in the East is the Cohutta Wilderness? (hint: combined with the smaller Big Frog to it's north, it forms the largest NF wilderness in the east).” 7:14:12 AM 4/17/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Where is the Ganga Wilderness Area? Harry Back National Monument? Great Gash Wetlands?” 7:58:55 AM 4/17/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Darn Dunk, if I answer that, I may just give it away. ;)” 8:24:01 AM 4/17/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Y'all do not no wher is the Abalama Walkin Woods.” 12:25:17 PM 4/17/01 RE: East - West Salvos “Ganga Wilderness Area? Dunno, but I'm shore Tarpy's spent a lot of time there.” 12:27:16 PM 4/17/01
