Slumberjack Bivy pole replacement?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 6 of 6 messages posted.
Slumberjack Bivy pole replacement? “I have an old slumberjack bivy that I hardly ever use but sometimes if I need room for one more person on a hike I will take it along. It has 2 fiberglass poles for the head and foot areas and the first time I used it the head pole broke so I taped it on the trail and the next nite the foot one broke. I contacted Cabeleas when I got home and they replaced them for me at no charge. The next time I used it (many, many monthes later) a pole broke again.I didn't ever contact Cabeleas as the time from purchase had been so long so I made a new one from old poles I had laying around. They broke as well. Slumberjack wants $30.00 for aluminum poles (the tent cost$65.00)and I dont want to spend the money as I will not use it enough to justify the cost but hate to trash the tent. Does any one know where to buy aluminum pole kits or even poles I can work with. Thanks (maybe I should have put his under the "worst gear I own" thread).” 11:26:17 AM 4/19/01 RE: Slumberjack Bivy pole replacement? “I had a bivy tent also and the pole split, I called Slumberjack and they sent me new poles free of charge. I sold the tent recently, just not big enough for me.” 11:46:55 AM 4/19/01 RE: Slumberjack Bivy pole replacement? “I had the same experience as Pemsit with the same results. I just called Slumberjack and that is still thier policy. Here is the # 1-800-233-6283. The replacments are aluminum, you may have to wait a little bit for a rep. but worth it.” 4:28:00 PM 4/19/01 RE: Slumberjack Bivy pole replacement? “Slumberjack also had to replace on of mine too. about a month later, that one snapped too. I said "screw it" and bought another brand tent. Never used it again. Never wanted to either. NEVER BUY THE SLUMBERJACK BIVY!!” 6:21:52 PM 4/19/01 RE: Slumberjack Bivy pole replacement? “I have a Slumberjack sleeping bag that is a piece of crap. Maybe we should just list anything made by Slumberjack on the worst gear thread.” 6:40:16 PM 4/19/01 RE: Slumberjack Bivy pole replacement? “I got a Slumberjack bag that I've used for years and it's served me well. It was a 5 deg. bag but now it's good to about 35 deg.” 12:00:21 AM 4/20/01
