Abby's first hike

“Abby turned 3 months last thursday. Today She,Joy and our 2 dogs went for a hike. We did 3 miles,planned on more but rain changed our plans. She did great,no fussing at all. She slept and just checked stuff out. The rain hood on her kelty kid carrier worked great. Cant wait for her first overnighter!”

We got our kids out early too and they loved it. Now it`s hard to keep my kids out of the woods, they love it almost as much as I do.”

“Sunny, we are headed up to Jordan river on Memorial day wknd for her first overnighter. We plan on doing the bridge walk in Sept and hiking a few days around brevort lake (near St Ignace).Plus some other stuff here and there.You outta link up with us!”

Buddur you hit the nail on the head, this kid loves to move! she was happy as a clam in the kid carrier, bouncing away over the hills, checking stuff out. it was pretty funny, her carrier is still a bit big for her so just her eyes peeped over the edge. we're going to have lots of fun this summer!”

Of course, I have no memory of this, but apparantly on my first overnighter, age 1, a skunk crept into the open doors of the big canvas tent, snuffled around a little, and left, all the while Mom and Dad were praying I wouldn't wake up.
I didn't.
And I hope Abby doesn't, either.”

“I have taken my 14 month old on several short hikes, and he's yet to fuss yet. He looks around and seems to enjoy the trees. It's alot of fun taking him out.”

My son is 4 1/2 years old and I'd like to take him hiking this year. He's quite a hyper little guy; I imagine he can do a mile or two without complaining. Can anyone else share their experiences bringing younger kids hiking?”

“Dave, we took our 4 yr old nephew on a four day/night trip last July. He did great! He managed around 4-6 miles everyday and loved being outside all the time. He did not enjoy using a cathole however and that was our one problem, it was a big one. :^)”
