RE: Gas prices are rising.
A bill was intro'd in Congress ( HR 1265 ) that will promote bicycle commuting.

Businesses get tax breaks for encouraging employees to use carpools or mass transit. This bill would extend the breaks to people who bicycle to work.

RE: Gas prices are rising.
I heard on the radio tonight that the prediction for gas prices go'n up to $3/gal are wrong. The prices are supposed to be even HIGHER! $3.60 was the estimate for this summer.

As soon as you sheep let us drill in the ANWR we'll lower the price of gasoline at few pennies. Then you can feel better about this royal screw job we're giving you. Until then, suffer!!

RE: Gas prices are rising.
FIRST, they need to make the roads safe for walkers and bicyclists. People get killed in my neighborhood because of narrow roads and maniacal drivers. Kids can't even walk to elementary school safely. And yes, everyone drives an extra-large SUV at maximum speed. For my chaufferring (sp?) of kids around town, a hybrid or electric car would be perfect if they seat three kids in back.

Geez, just a month ago, gas was $1.03 in New Jersey. Now it's $1.30. I realize that's cheap compared to other parts of the country, but still, everyone's seeing a huuuuuuuge increase.

Where the heck are those dang fuel cells?

Profit from high gas prices--buy stock in companies that make rubber hoses and siphon kits.

AAA is saying that gas companies are walking a fine line with price gouging. They say the higher prices are NOT justified even with the Venezuela strike. They're just trying to capitalize on mid-east tensions. Scum bags.

BWA HA HA! That's what we said in California during the so-called power crises. Bush was put in the Whitehouse by energy companies, what are the odds that he'll try to keep them from making $$?

In Montreal it's up to 90 cents a litre...which means $3.60 a gallon (4 litres = 1 gallon). With our currency at $1.64Can = $1.00 U.S...it translate to about $2.20 U.S a gallon.

How much of the gas price in Canada is tax?

Isn't the reason for your low medical expenses because of the high taxes on things such as gasoline, tobacco, and booze?

$1.71 for regular in CT almost a .20 cent jump in 2 days! There is no way that the price of oil jumped that fast! AAA says that it is bordering on price gouging http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/134632679_gasgouging12.html

90 cents a litre, Hodgeman. Dang it I have to do the conversion now. I wish we'd have gone metric back in the 70's!

So a litre is .2624 gallons, so 90 cents/.2642 = $3.40? Yikes!!
aero

oh wait, that Canadian, so .8 or so x $3.40= $2.72 US?
aero

2/13/03

It's all Taxing anyways. Has anybody stopped to figure out exactly how much more it is costing you to fiil your tank now vs a month prior?

My tank holds 34 gallons. So, 34 gal x $0.10 per gal = $3.40 per tank. I fill my tank 2 times a month. 2 fills per month x $3.40 per tank x 12 months = $81.60 per year.

I don't know, it still seems cheap to me, but the company I work for is now getting ~$15.00 more per bbl than it was last summer. And, that money is being spent here, in the USA, rather than to Venezuala, or Mexico.
