I think the larger companies make really good bikes. Cannondale, and specialized have some good products, and they have the money to make the best, lightest frames possible. The S-Works frame is the best frame out there. I know they are pricey, but there is a lot of money that goes into the design.

I have a Raleigh M-600 right now, that I modified for road/trail use. I love it, and will never get rid of it, but as far as road bikes or CX bikes go, you can't beat a S-works, or CAAD 3 frame, with Ultegra, or 105 on it.”

“I agree Cannondale N Specialized make some fine bikes. But to get more bike for your money and better customer service I prefer the medium size companies.

I've owned a Cannondale and when I noticed a dent in the day old frame I got the run around, not only by the bike shop but also Cannondale.

One of my other griefs is how the big companies treat the ma N pa bike shops. The amount of merchandise they have to order is outrageous and doesn't allow the bikeshop to have a variety of inventory. But oh well.

Cyclocross is one hell of a brutal sport. But way cool. Have given Bikepackin a try yet? (backpack and biking combined) I just bought a B.O.B. Yak and was planning a trip with my 6 year old son this last weekend but unfortunately got rained out.”
