I love my tent “I just used my good old Peak 1 Aries tent over the weekend for the first time in about 2 years and it made me realize how much I liked it. It went up and came dowm really easy, even in the wind and it's really small and light. Does anybody else have this wonderful tent?” 10:11:50 PM 4/29/01 RE: I love my tent “Hey DeathMarch, How much does it weigh and how much room does it have? I am looking into buying a new tent soon. On another thought, have you ever went to the backpacking campground at Shades? My kids and I day hiked to there this weekend. It has delux accommodations. Pit toilet, water source piped in, individual campsites with picknic table, trash disposal, they will even bring you fire wood at night. Might be a fun place if you don't feel like killing yourself or if you want to try out new gear. My kids have not overnight backpacked before, i thought this might be a good place to start them out. Just wondering if you liked it.” 11:12:24 AM 4/30/01 RE: I love my tent “Deathmarch: I have an Aries - I really like mine also. Willow: it is advertized as 5# 3oz - just as important is the small stuff size of 6" x 14". I normally use it solo - it will be OK when my daughter is old enough to join me. My only complaint is I need to stake it down to stretch it to full length to keep my head and toes from rubbing the ends. Deathmarch - do you solo in it ?” 11:59:31 AM 4/30/01 RE: I love my tent “I usually solo in it, but I also will double up in it when on an extended trip. It has just enough room to fit two sleeping pads plus about two inches on each side. You're a little cramped, but I'm willing to sacrafice that for weight and size. Willow, I've been down to Shades before. I've never done any overnighters there but I've hiked aroundd some. It's really a nice place.” 1:09:25 PM 4/30/01 RE: I love my tent “I origionally bought mine for bicycle camping; I have never slept two in it - but I am sure it could be done. I usually get one of my buddies to bring his tent - that takes five pounds off my back. I have offered to take the fly or poles but he always says he's OK I think I have found the best way to reduce my pack weight ... Anyway, I think it is a good, lighweight, compact tent that assembles very quickly.” 3:30:10 PM 4/30/01
