Palm Pilot
Palm Pilot, who has them, which one, how do you like it?

I am going to break down and get one, and the prices have quite a range. I am not sure how much I want to spend and which features I can rule out.

I have already ruled out wireless internet. How much more time could I spend at TT?

RE: Palm Pilot
My goal is to own nothing but electronics. I am looking for a backpack with a built in electronic scale.

That goes along with bacpac being an "abrupt movement"

RE: Palm Pilot
Yeah, the first device I want for backpacking is that anti-gravity device. Hooks right up to your daisy chain on the pack.

RE: Palm Pilot
I just got a Palm V from work, and I love it. I've never been one to carry a day planner and with my new job I've got a lot of meetings and travel so I needed something to keep track of it all. It synchronizes with my work e-mail and calendar on my desktop so at the end of the day I can plug it in to the computer and anything on the computer gets sent to the Palm Pilot and the stuff on the Palm Pilot gets sent to the computer. Its really nice because you don't have to worry about transfering appointments, forgetting to add something to your calendar that you got e-mailed or whatever. Its got a few fun games and what not. I don't think you'd need one of the mega fancy ones unless you wanted internet and all that stuff.

RE: Palm Pilot
I've got a Plam 3XE and it has everything I'll ever need. The really nice thing is that you can sync it with Outlook. This means you can have all your contacts, e-mail, Calender entries and any notes. There is also a program that allows you to download webpages onto it. You can get stock reports, news, weather and more updated every time you sync. It's the next best thing to wireless internet.

RE: Palm Pilot
I couldn't wait so I got the Palm111C with color. I couldn't see myself poking around on a black and green screen all day. Laugh Hysterically hereThe Palm V was a little too pricey.

I got a lot to learn. The first problem was that I could not install the software on my PC (NT Platform) until I logged in as Administrator, so I did, and now I can't sync to my regular login account. Oh well, nothing like a new toy to kill productivity.

RE: Palm Pilot
If anyone's interested, I have a Handspring Visor for sale. I bought it last year, shortly before I ordered a new Dell puter... following which, the company I work for sent me a palm IIIxe, because they're now supporting its use with their software.

So... I don't need two of these (they're great!), and I also have 4 additional "pens" to go with it.

$175, you pay shipping.

Email me if you're interested.

IIIxe is the way to go. The price is good and so are the features.

RE: Palm Pilot
Been a Palm user for years now. I now use the Palm Vx, and love it. I've had color, didn't like the bulky size of the IIIc, so I sold it and went back to the Vx. It's slim, trim, and has 8 megs of memory which I've not used yet. I have many databases that I use for my work, as well as AvanteGo which I sync up with daily for 3 newspapers, weather, and various other web sites that I like to keep up on. Not to mention email. So far I have yet to find an application for which color was an asset, except for games, (which I don't use) or perhaps the image viewer.

Wow, I guess I have been living in the dark ages. This Palm stuff is too cool! I got my stock quotes, news, weather, and of course the latest posts from TT right in the palm of my hand.

I got my sync working now and everything is hunky dory. I haven't done a lick of work since I bought this thing. Neat stuff and I am just getting started.

RE: Palm Pilot
Good for you, bacpac. I had to turn in my Palm III when I left my last job in December. I miss having it.

Glad to hear you got the synchronization working...I was gonna suggest you make your login an administrator and reinstall the software to make it work.

Still looking for another III (got some stuff I bought that only work with the III line or the old Palm Pilot) cheap...maybe someday I'll have one back in my grubbies...

RE: Palm Pilot
bacpac, I use the Handspring Visor like the one obi is trying to sell and it's great. I never thought I'd use it, but it turns out that now I'm lost without it...
