Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Campers! I go to pick up the new llama this weekend. We go grab him, drive him home, and then push his little self into the corral with the rest of the boys. I anticipate there will be much screeching, spitting and general hell for a day or two. When the dust settles, we will know where he sits in the llama hierarchy. I think Larry will still be the boss. BTW... Trailartist, M'dear... Any information on the progress of T-shirts? We have some curious members who want to know their status, if any.” 9:59:58 PM 5/04/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Hope Larry got his teeth trimmed for the new arrival! Those vet bills can break ya. Ever use a muzzle until they get to know who's who? Works for dogs.” 12:06:55 AM 5/05/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Let me see if I've got this straight. A cow goes "moo." A dog goes "woof." A cat goes "miao." A pig goes "oink." And a llama goes... What? "P-Tooie"?” 4:22:13 AM 5/05/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Just a note to say that I fell off the side of the earth only to find out that the earth is round, so I really couldn't fall off for good. Basically.... I am still here. The END.” 10:19:55 PM 5/06/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “jai ram! (yipee!) i was wondering about you californians....... so....while you are here.....what's fun to do in Sacramento on a Friday night before heading out to the wilderness? any good cowboy bars...er, uh i mean , museums?” 10:46:40 PM 5/06/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Gad.... Om....... I know for sure that the old part of Sacramento, down along the river (Old Town..?) has a lot of historical old buildings, restaurants, antique shops, and general neat places to browse. There are also cruises up the Sacramento River on an old paddle-wheeled steamer. The capitol is there and even if you don't have time to do much, it's a pretty neat area to see some of the old homes from the 1800's as well as the Capitol Building. Freedom, since she re-discovered the earth is round, could probably tell you more since she's been living there now for the last year. Freedom, Honey.. Is it still killing you over there? P Poor baby. It's a big, nasty city (occasionally charming), but you also have such a high-pressure job. You stay on this edge of the earth now, hear? NV? Llamas moo, too. They also hum. And Larry talks in his sleep. Which will scare the pants off of you if you're out alone (you think)in the woods at night, and waking out of a sound sleep, you hear him singing. TOO weird!” 12:29:15 AM 5/07/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Old Town Sacramento is kinda cool if you have never been there. If you like trains, they have an awesome train museum.” 2:02:53 AM 5/07/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “nice! i LOVE trains.....wish i could take one out west instead of a plane but i dont have enough time for that....” 8:37:31 AM 5/08/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Got any leather bars there? How about leather cowboy bars? I believe the dog says, "hau, hau". Muddy Waters says, "a-hau, hau, hau, hau".” 8:48:31 AM 5/08/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “Mel - Do you anticipate there will be any fishing at our first two camps on the trail before we get to Crabtree? I see some streams on the map, but don't know if we will be near any fishing. Just wondering.” 7:25:40 PM 5/17/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “I have to take a look at the map again. If we don't stay at Chicken Spring Lake, and it's just stream fishing, it'll be a little iffy.” 12:33:41 AM 5/18/01 RE: Llama Hike Update: 5-5 “My buddy didn't have much luck fishing Lower Soldier Lake, but there are fish in there. There are supposed to be fish in Rock Creek Lake also. But if, as I expect, we bypass those lakes on way out (using them as a reunion point on the way back), taking the direct trail to lower Rock Creek, that leaves only Rock Creek and Guyot Creek before Crabtree. Rock Creek didn't look promising to me and Guyot is much too small. Actually, it's the ten-day group that will re-group at Rock Creek Lake. If you're in the seven-day crew you may never see this area. P.S. Ten weeks?!?!?! I can't believe the amount of work I have to do in the next ten weeks. This trip will be a much needed respite.” 1:16:17 PM 5/18/01
