Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "people", but I was trying to be pleasant. Other words do come to mind, lol.

obi, she may be kind of young, but that doesn't mean you can't fool around, lol. Newgirl doesn't realize yet that this is trailtalk/love connection, lol.

My sister lived in Lolo by Lolo Creek (near Missoula) for 13 years. It was beautiful there. My brother lived in Belgrade (near Bozeman) for 5 years. I'll bet he knows where some good backpacking is. (both transplanted Californians).

I went to Glacier NP once and loved it. I would be concerned about the grizzlies also. Black bears don't bother me, but grizzlies are a lot more intimidating.

I'll ask my brother where he would recommend backpacking.

By the way, my brother and sister both moved away from Montana because they couldn't make a living there. They wish they could have stayed.

Yes. I did a hike in Montana a couple of years ago. It was a one way hike. We started just east of Cooke City and ended up at East Rosebud Lake. We spent 5 nights and 6 days, but it could be done in less time. Lots of good fishing, beautiful scenery, col lakes and waterfalls. Well worht the trip.

glacier is tuff. i live in fl so i had a friend in helena mail my application on april 16. spoke with back country office today. it was recieved and was number like 375. she did say most of my itinerary was approved with one "minor" change and it was mailed out 2 days ago.

maybe the damn backpacker mag article had impact. i hope the change isnt too drastic. last year we did an 11.5 mile day which included stoney indian pass with snow. changes can be deadly.

Find what might be some good trails and GO FOR IT!

Where ya flying out of deano? I'm leaving from Jacksonville on August 1. $460 ticket to Kalispel because I made my reservations in February. The Lake McDonald Lodge and Many Glacier Lodge are already paid for. The only thing left is to split the rental car and get some bear spray. Oh yeah, food. I will be eating like a king before and after this trip. Should I have the Grizzly fried or broiled?

I found out last night that a couple I know are moving to Missoula at the end of the month. She is taking a three month photography course, and he is gonna catch as catch can in construction. Very nice young folks, they are.

Soooooo, I figure I'll swing by enroute from the Northern Plains to Idaho. They could prolly use a good, hot meal by early July, LOL!
(I'll surely need a good, hot shower by then, too) hehehee!

Hey, newgirly, mebbe we could hook-up for a lil' bp'ing.
I have references.
(o;

I'll surely pass near yer neighborhood.
I mean... how big can MT be?
