Personally, I would never carry a gun...I think it would only serve as a symbol of my own fear. (this is just my opinion)
Plus, I am not comfortable with guns...having one or even being around one. Too disruptive...

Hiking with a dog, plus having pepper spray, is a great way to go...

your biggest fears, I assume, are people? Dogs are the best creep-deterrent you could ask for, in that regard(just ask bacpac, lol). I think you should do whatever you feel is right for you...

You know I have done some thinking and I have come to the conclusion that Im not really afraid of anything. Maybe worried a little about bears or little creatures getting my food..But as far as being scared..NAW. the whole gun idea was my husbands..Maybe it will make him feel better if I carry it. If your starting on the 26th, shouldn't you be way past Blood Mtn by Friday? It's only about 36 miles from Amicalola Falls to Blood Mountain.

And I dont plan on hiking full speed ahead like some people do AHEM..im taking my time and enjoying my solitude.

I might spend a day and go into Suches to do whatever..And I plan on getting to the lake on friday.”

I'm getting on the road Thursday morning (24th), stopping in Twin Cities area overnite, then across Minn. and N.D. to Teddy R.N.P. on 25th, begin hiking on the 26th. I hope you have a wonderful time too. I took my dog to Linville Gorge yesterday and loaded the little bugger down..he carried on like nothing..Im not sure about the coyotes but at least a dog is better company than some hiking companions I have trudged on with..lol
