No, but I've seen people drink it for a tea for lack of anything else.

Turpentine is a fluid obtained by distillation from resin obtained from trees, mainly various species of pine (Pinus). It is composed of terpenes, mainly the monoterpenes alpha-pinene and beta-pinene.

Medicinal uses
Turpentine has been used medically since ancient times.

Applied externally to the affected areas, turpentine is a highly effective treatment for lice.
Turpentine can be mixed with animal fat as a primitive chest rub for nasal and throat complaints. Some modern chest rubs still contain some turpentine (e.g., Vicks).
Internal administration of turpentine is no longer common today, though it was once the preferred means of treating intestinal parasites.

Hazards
Turpentine is an organic solvent, and thus poses many of the same hazards as do other substances in this class. It can burn the skin and eyes, damage the lungs and respiratory system, as well as the central nervous system when inhaled, and cause kidney failure when ingested, among other things. It is highly flammable.

I remember my Grandma putting some kind of Turpentine Rub on one of my cousin's chest for a cough when I was a kid.

Smelled to high heaven.

The rub I understand. Makes sense to drink it if I had a tapeworm!

I'm an oil painter....
I love the smell of turps while painting..
..
I prefer to use turps over "odorless turpentine" or "mineral spirits"--if I can smell it, I will also know how concentrated is in the air.... (always have the fan blowing out the window to maintain proper ventilation and to prevent the odor from leaving my studio and going into the house...

I read somewhere that someone put together an herbal "snuff" that contained wasabi powder-- talk about clearing your sinuses!!!

Large Bowl of Pho (That's "#6 Large" for those who don't speak Vietnamese) heavy on the Sriracha sauce. Good for what ails you, really opens up the sinuses.

Actually Vitamin C with zinc. Gotta have that little zinc pill. Everybody at my job told me to get echenacea. I spent so much time in operating rooms (filthy places)& hospitals that I caught several bad colds a year. Working 110 hours a week didn't help either.

Now, I'm out of the hospitals & only working 40 hours so hopefully this year will be better.

I tried Airborne this time around, but not right at the start of the cold. I don't know if it's shortening it up yet, but I do feel much better about an hour after taking it. It's like tasty alka selter.

I take Sudafed if I have post nasal drip since that will make you're throat sore. I am getting over a bad cold now where I wanted to rip my whole face off. It was stuffed up and aching. My husband swears by Alka Seltzer Plus for colds, but I like pills.

I'm with lipstick. Even tho the Sudafed makes sleeping a little weird. It's the choice of not sleeping because I can't breathe and I feel like I'm suffocating or not sleeping because of drugs. I'll take the drugs.

now I know why I have been feeling up crap for the past few days. I have a head cold.

I was working in the rain most of the day and caught a chill. But now I am enjoying a nice glass of wine so I am hoping to feel better soon :)
