“North Manitou Island. Awesome scenery, Lake Michigan to play in, nice easy trails, you can camp anywhere you want and cool old farms, cemetary, town and homestead sites to explore. There are 50+ miles of trail but I think you'd have to loop and loop to get them all. Mostly flat terrain.

Ferry to it was $19 last year, I think it's $8 per tent per night to camp. You catch the ferry in Leland, up past Traverse city. The number for info and reservations is: (616)256-9061 or (616)271-4217.”
