FYI - Army Survival Manual On-line “FYI - You might want to bookmark the Army Survival Manual I found on-line. Definitely not "Leave No Trace" stuff, but in a survival situation, that is secondary.” 1:14:26 AM 5/21/01 RE: FYI - Army Survival Manual On-line “Phil: Thanks for the link. Are there other FM's available on line?” 6:45:19 AM 5/21/01 RE: FYI - Army Survival Manual On-line “Thanks Phil. Growing up I used to have my dad's Navy survival manual from WWII era. I think that plays a big role in why I continue to endorse a sturdy knife in the wilds.” 10:46:23 AM 5/21/01 RE: FYI - Army Survival Manual On-line “I just picked up the Army Survival Manual at Barnes and Noble for just over $8. There's some good info in there, I think. Worth having. Years ago I gave my stepson a copy of the original Boyscout manual...Much of the same info could be found in there (except for the part about avoiding detection by enemy soldiers) LOL” 12:10:39 AM 7/14/01 RE: FYI - Army Survival Manual On-line “I used to carry a heavy knife. Technology has improved. I prefer to carry a Gerber sport saw that weighs 4 oz and a small knife that weighs 3 oz. The Gerber saw will open a deer's ribs like butter and skim through a small sapling in no time. Don't get the Wal-Mart imitation. The real thing has two sets of staggered teeth.” 12:44:36 AM 7/14/01 RE: FYI - Army Survival Manual On-line “Thanks, bacpac, that was one of the things I wanted.” 7:55:28 AM 7/14/01 RE: FYI - Army Survival Manual On-line “"...oper a deer's ribs like Buddur?" Haven't been able to find my Gerber for the last few months. It's close to being considered MIA.” 8:44:03 AM 7/14/01
