What's wrong with Polygamy?

“Kleetn ? I did not say that they didn?t practice polygamy. Your quotes are actually in support of my point. It was a religious practice done under the direction of God according to their faith. Some guy could not just decide on his own that he was going to take another wife. Brigham?s statements probably had more to do with obedience to the commands of God that to a need to have more than one wife. The members, even many of the leaders, had a hard time accepting polygamy. Its practice truly tested the faith and obedience of the members.

For you anti any religion people, there was not compulsion in any of this. Many chose to leave the church. I find it interesting that religions that are the hardest to live have members with the strongest faith.”

My Mormon friends have been trying to convert me, that is how I get this information. I don?t think I am strong enough to live their religion but I am listening.”

my parents were in the mormon church. they left in the 70's.

why? one thing was told to them:

now, the church denies that it was ever a belief of their's, but i remember when the church came out and said that the belief was wrong, and it should no longer be supported.

I have already ask your question about the leadership or priesthood. One thing you probably missed is that to a Mormon having their priesthood is a responsibility to serve others. It is not some honor or prestigious thing. It means more work with no pay. They don?t even get a cool hat or fancy robe. If ya believe in the bible, the priesthood was often restricted to a specific group of people like the Levites.

Having an open mind is a good idea. It goes both ways though. Open to them as well as other ideas. Closing your mind because of some problem with the social stuff that goes with their religion is still a closed mind.”
