What's yer number, baybee? “What's your REI membership number? They're sequential, so if you were the tenth person to join REI, you'd have membership #10. (No need to give the whole thing in case you're concerned that someone else will use it and give YOU the dividend!) Mine is 490460, but then I've had it since 10th grade.” 2:08:40 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “I never got a dividend this year!” 2:23:29 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “maybe you gave them the wrong name...” 2:42:18 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “Was 10th grade 1960? I had thought maybe the last two numbers were the year.” 2:49:13 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “No, MaryPhyl, I joined in probably 1975.” 3:38:31 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “4629948” 4:01:20 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “1643483 I don't know what year I joined--seems like it cost me $5” 4:17:19 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “You've been around for awhile kleetn, arriving under 500,000. Mine's around 1,045,000 (actual number kept in a secure vault under a large northern state). So I didn't miss the millionth member by too much. Actually someone could change the address on your membership and then collect your dividend, so be careful. My membership was also $5 and dates from the mid 70s.” 5:43:41 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “05759911-C” 6:28:44 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “I was wondering what number they're up to these days. Pekka, good point! Uh, my REAL number is 948264. Got that? It's 2854923.” 6:33:39 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “22340 -- 1959 or 60, Now ask, what is the first thing you bought? I think it was a Primus 71 L, which I still have and it simmers.” 6:51:20 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “1-800-highonthinair” 7:00:40 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “I have no idea what the first thing I bought was. I remember when those catalogs got read and re-read. No internet then so that and later Campmor were the only way to buy stuff. Flagstaff did not have much in the way of gear to buy.” 7:38:23 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “in the 5.5 million range, I think... Which is embarrassing, but then again I only became a left coaster 6 months ago. Before that all my money went to Camp-Mor. A Patagonia fleece for my girlfriend was my first purchase (yeah, yeah, it's easier to remember something from last October...)” 8:17:29 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “I just joined about 2 or 3 months ago. 05599820” 8:28:19 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “I don't have one.” 8:32:14 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “Let's see it's real close to 834000, and probably dates to the mid-70's. Back in Junior High we had a Hiking Club for a few years. Our faculty advisor would do us the "favor"of ordering out of the REI catalog for all us kids. At the time we weren't clued-in enough to know that he was also getting the dividend on all our purchases! I think I joined shortly thereafter.” 9:33:37 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “i dont have one either....i thought you wanted phone number..heh hey.... my softball number is 23” 10:20:55 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “my softball number is 14. have to choose between a nice long day hike with friends or a "for fun" softball tournament. wish i could do both!” 10:45:35 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “September 1988” 10:59:40 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “lol joy...I know what you mean.......how about deciding between that demarini bat or a new sleeping bag....sigh....does rei sell bats....that is outdoor gear too..heh” 11:18:31 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “I played T-Ball as a little kid. That's the extent of my Sports Carear.” 11:22:28 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “867-5309” 11:26:28 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “01344598, I joined in 1981.” 11:39:38 PM 5/22/01 RE: What's yer number? “666” 12:39:18 AM 5/23/01 RE: What's yer number? “LMOA Budder! I'm #14, and so's to be cool with the lowest REI #, I done kilt off the lower ones. (It was easy, they're all oldies now.)” 12:43:56 AM 5/23/01 RE: What's yer number? “hehehe good'un, gordon Hey WD I played T-Ball just the other day! You ever heard of the T-Ball Dunk?” 1:00:50 AM 5/23/01 RE: What's yer number? “1.2 million range. Joined in 1983.” 8:33:34 AM 5/23/01 RE: What's yer number? “Old Timer...WHOA! You are one who must draw gasps from the clerks when they see your number, eh? I think the first thing I bought was my first external frame pack. I remember, like MaryPhyl, taking HOURS to pore over the catalog...the beginning of my lifelong gear addiction!” 9:36:12 AM 5/23/01 RE: What's yer number? “kleetn Yes, most all of the clerks hadn't been born yet when I got that number. Time flys when you're having fun. I wish I had saved one of the old catalogs, the merchandise was represented by ink penned drawings. No glossy photos. Most all equipment was of European manufacture and very inexpensive. The Primus stove I bought was around $7.00.” 11:45:17 AM 5/23/01
