“Hi y'all.
No, the flies didn't get me, but the Superior Hiking Trail did kick my a$$. It was rough, a LOT of up and down, cold, and it rained everyday. It was still very much winter up there, lots of snow and very little greenery. I loved it! It had great views and a bunch of waterfalls, lots of wildlife, and is nicely separated from the nearby civilization.
But, I got halfway through and got sick as hell, from some combination of water nasties, dehydration, and/or flu. I got nauseous, dizzy, andstarted stumbling around. When I came out to get my food stash halfway, I had to go get a motel room to recuperate. I didn't get better in 3 days so I had to come home. I did still dayhike the more popular loop trails before leaving.
I'm pretty depressed about not completing my big spring trip, plus it took a week before I felt %100. That's why I haven't been online much. Thanks for asking about me Joy! (PS I see you're on greatlakeshikes now!)
