RE: Phil Oren's Fit System
I had this done at Damacus Trail Daze. I had custom foot beds made up as well as a thorogh fitting. IMHO well worth the cost of 20 bucks. You will leave knowing what is the boot for you!

RE: Phil Oren's Fit System
I need to have this done. My feet have widened since having Abby and now my brand new, nicely broken in Zamberlans are too narrow!! I just got them last year.

RE: Phil Oren's Fit System
What's the difference between custom Superfeet and off the rack Superfeet?

I have (off the rack) Superfeet in my boots, they are much better then the footbeds that came with the boots.

jer...

You got custom superfeet and a fitting for 20 bucks??? Smokin deal! I spent 60 or 80 bucks on mine.

wsexson...

The main difference is the customs are heated and vacuum molded to your foot while it is in a neutral position. This helps align the knee, keep the heel in place, support the arch, decrease pronation/supenation, improve boot fit, and decrease blisters due to sloppy fit. I don't know if they really fix all that, but thats the claim. I do know that I got a pair of customs with my last pair of new boots and they're the best fitting shoes I've ever worn. The footbeds can even be used in other shoes. Just slip 'em out, and put them in another shoe.

RE: Phil Oren's Fit System
I had mine fitted at Trail Daze too,but paid $75 for fitting and custom footbeds.I have been wearing size 9 1/2 or 10 for years, but was sized to a 7 1/2 or 8(stablized).Then my custom footbed was made on a size 10.If I am to buy a smaller boot,I don't think these footbeds will work,as they barely fit a size 10 work shoe I have used to break in the footbeds. The footbeds do feel great, though and are very stable.I am also fairly new at computers, what is IMHO?

Alright, anyone been to see Phil in the past couple years? He's in Iowa City at Active Endeavors Nov. 7-8. I called them today and they said it's $30 to register... and they still have spots (the spring session they have with Phil Oren really fills up they said, as it's going into the season)

I've used Superfeet, which seem great. However, I can tell my right foot is f*ed up, cuz I have a corn on my little toe... and I see heels wearing unevenly. So I'm thinking it's time to get even better footbeds?

I understand, which I hope is right, that they can work with the boots a person has. Cuz I have my new Asolos and sure don't need to buy new boots. But it sounds like they can stretch the boot in places if need be, and recommend/fit footbeds and good socks.

Hey, I'm ready to go spend some moola!! Moooooooooooo la hahahahaha

I see they also do one at REI in the Twin Cities in the spring -- which is much closer for me now -- but I would think that one would have a trillion people at it. So would probably rather hit Iowa City, barring really bad weather.

G00SE and I both use the custom superfeet and have both had our boots "adjusted" by someone who was trained by Phil.

First they measure and analyze your feet. then they analyze your boots. Then they make the boots match your feet as closely as possible. It killed an entire afternoon for each of us but it was well worth the time. If they have to stretch your boots it can do damage so be aware of that in advance.

Interesting, his website.
I gave a talk on perspiration, especially by the feet, in 1953. Now it appears that this guy is making a living by telling people that their feet are sweating. Wow!

My feet are different, so I wear orthopedic inserts in my boots and shoes. They help. The last set cost $100.

I usually buy my boots at Walmart. I make sure my inserts fit the boots and that there is enough space for each foot, even if swollen, and for thick socks. I have not experienced any problems due to my boots. (I have been in hiking boots more than 150 days so far this year.)

I did not see anything in this guy's website about treating feet that are different. But he must be aware of it, based upon his experience. The pad behind my toes is concave on one foot and convex on the other. The orthopedic inserts redistribute my weight on the odd foot and provide balance for the other foot.

Jeeez, getting old is rough. But I'm thankful, because a lot of people don't experience it. My problems start at my toes, then my feet, my knees, ah, I think I'll stop there with just an etc.
