As a lifer, it's nothing fancy to me - just home.
Yet visitors often comment about how pretty it is (which it is, I guess). It has "mountains" in the north, a beautiful coast, and rolling countryside in between. Countless acres of timberland mixed with intermitent pasture and farm land. Plenty of shade (which makes the summer a little more bearable).

People are pretty friendly, I suppose - but I've never met friendlier folks than in the northern rockies...”

In Montana a black family driving a Lexus is as rare as twenty dollar bills on the sidewalk. In Georgia a black family in a Lexus looks more normal than a cowboy in a pick up.
