Farewell for the summer
Hey hey everyone. So I've moved out of Minneapolis up near Duluth and have been working my butt off helping get ready for a family reunion, and helping get ready for a couple steer and chickens we'll have in a few weeks. Internet here is horribly slow, so I haven't been on much. Anyway, I have landed a very nice job for the summer and will not be around Trail Talk for a while. I will be a camp counselor at a summer camp on the edge of the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. Unfortunately for me, training starts on Monday so I won't have time to hike this weekend (d'oh!), but on the bright side, I'll be up near (and in for some of the older kids) the Boundary Waters. Rumor has it that I'll also be able to spend a week up in the Boundary waters with the canoes and other counselors at the end of the summer.

So this long winded, somewhat garbled message is here to basically let you know what's up with me, and to wish you all most fabulous summers. I hope you all go on some wonderful hikes. TTFN

I was up in that country last fall. Put your mind into what it must have been like living there a couple of hundred years ago.
Have a great summer. Mary

Sounds like a fun summer. By chance are you working at Widji? That is where I got a lot of my memories from.

Lucky you! Enjoy the summer. Best part of my ridgerunning days was introducing people - especially kids - to the joys of life in the woods. Hope you have lots of good stories when you get back.

Wow, thanks for the support everyone. This will be the last time I check in for a while. I'm just taking a break from packing. I have to leave at 7am tomorrow. i am so excited. I found out I will get some weekends off, so I'm bringing my gear with me to keep in my van (I just bought a $500 mini-van, now I'm really an oldie) and hopefully I'll take a few weekends and explore the Boundary Waters a bit.

So, I'm off. I'll try to check in a few times over the summer. Again, I hope all of you have fantastic summers. Until later, take it easy.
