Silliman Crest Trip Report 2:11:21 AM 5/29/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Very nice website Tekapo! Great photos and trip report. Do I have a feeling there may be a new photo of you on Phil's page? That was a nice shot of you.” 9:01:42 AM 5/29/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Wow!!! This website is awesome - the photos are so crisp and the colors so vibrant! Thanks for sharing, tekapo. I enjoy seeing places and terrain that I'll probably never visit...can experience them vicariously through other tt'ers. Thanks, again!” 2:00:20 PM 5/29/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Yeah, that was great! Nice shots.” 2:19:13 PM 5/29/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Very nice shots. Nice narrative too. Good site!” 2:31:11 PM 5/29/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “You have a wonderful way with words. I'm sharing this one with the boyfriend. Thank you. Mary” 12:40:36 AM 5/30/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Thank you for the compliments. The trip was challenging mostly because of the people who were on it. We had quite a range of personalities there and it was interesting to see which ones were the most dominant. I was taken by differences in what both postitive and negative mindsets there were. There were a few of us that got the most from the trip. I really like going on these trips not just to escape, but to live in a place that is removed from conveniences I've grown accustomed to; even if it's for just a short while. These memories stay with you and the more I do these trips, the more it becomes clear what really matters. Does this make sense? I mean, life is way too short, and it's easy to squander our time on that which has less value. In my estimation, we don't have time for complacency or cynicism. We have a daily choice either to be miserable, or to be grateful. The quality of your life is a direct measure of which you choose. Yeah, there is some risk and discomfort in getting out there with nothing more than a pack on your back, but I figure what alternatives are there? Being faced with challenges among like minded people is what is very rewarding. And bringing back experiences that influence others in a positive way is icing on the cake. Maybe your familiar with this quote where John Muir once said, "Here's another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality." I'm glad you enjoyed this trip report.” 1:13:39 AM 5/30/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Mary you always read through these reports. Maybe one day I can somehow figure out how to get a personal guided tour of that giant canyon in your backyard. -Never been there.” 1:22:09 AM 5/30/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Very cool site and pics. When were you there??” 1:30:29 AM 5/30/01 RE: Silliman Crest Trip Report “Just last week, but it seems ages ago. LOL” 1:46:01 AM 5/30/01
