What Sould I do?

“Well here it is almost June and here i am sick of my summer life. It seems to be lacking adventure. I need adventure Im going crazy! Right now im taking summer classes and working full time. I never get a weekend off and Im bored with my life. My classes will be done at the end of June and then I plan to quit my jobs and have a killer adventure. My question is where to? It has to be in or close to Michigan and reasonably inexpensive, and it has to be fun. And new. So this excludes the manitous, and Nordhouse and the manisteee river trail. Give me Ideas! also I want it to be kinda long. Any ideas?”

“Head to the Porcupine Mountains! It's very nice there. Not sure of your definition of long. You can pull of a several day backpack there. Maybe hit Pictured Rocks, too. I think it shares about 40+ miles of trails w/ the North Country Trail. Most of the trail is along the shoreline.
The UP is a wonderful place to go.”

“Isle Royale. Once you pay the ferry $ it's not expensive at all. You could probably spend two weeks hiking there. Mail yourself resupplies of food. The Voyager II ferry (from Minnesota) acts as a mail vehicle. All you have to do is plan stops where it docks to get your mail.”

“Spend a few weeks in Detroit, should be enought adenture for a while.”

“killarney provincial park, ontario. Do the 100-kilometre LaCloche Silhouette Trail.. thats 62 miles.. should keep ya busy for a week.”

“hopefully i will be able to do that trail by next summer.. and find someone who will do it with me. i am going up there in late july this year.. i think we are car camping for 5 days and just doing a lot of day hiking”

“I agree with bacpac. Visit me. Here is our agenda for your big adventure. You drive down to Columbus, OH (no, I don't live in the Yukon, but my bear alter ego does). When you arrive, I will have a very nice meal cooked for you (Hiking Bear is a great cook!) The next day, we head to Kentucky, I'll drive to hike the places that Daniel Boone used to explore. Because I am a nice looking tall, fit gentleman, who just got out of a long term relationship and am looking for any type of female acceptence, you will be showered with compliments and goodies. AFter the long hike on the trail, I'll cook dinner, massage your back and feet (yet another talent) and make you feel like the beautiful radiant woman that you are. You won't have to worry about sex, or me coming on to you, I'm too damed shy in real life, and am too much of a gentkeman around women to try that. After a good 4 days out on the trail, exploring nature and relaxing, we'd head back to Columbus and relax, drinking wine by my fireplace while telling tales of our hiking adventures past. Please guys, no vomiting over the post, I am dead serious! Let me know adverturegirl, I am awaiting your response!”

“pack up some stuff and go on a long bike ride. Just pick a point and ride there. Maybe ride across Michigan. Contact a bike club and see if they are doing any big rides or anything.”

“Look at Northern Ontario. The Coastal Trail in Pukaskwa is great. And Lake Superior Provincial Park is great also. Both have nice, weeklong hikes. The Voyageurs Trail also goes for a long way in that area. And there is also the Bruce Trail from Tobermory to Niagara Falls in Southern Ontario.

For nearby fun, buy a kayak. There is lots of flatwater fun to be had around here.

If I had the time, I'd go to Isle Royale. Porcupine Mountains is great but I'd save that for a shorter adventure.

The Detroit News and Free Press sponsor something called the Michigander. It's a group bikeride for at least several days. I think Rails-to-Trails of Michigan also puts it on. It sounds like a lot of fun and adventure. I'll see what I can dig up.”

“Hyperpacker rode his bike across the state when he was a kid. You can also hike across MI. We had planned on doing so but never did. The hike is on the shore to shore trail. The trail is maintaned by the Michigan trail riders. It looked like a really nice hike. We've got maps and stuff on it if you're interested. Email at joenjoyharvey@msn.com”
