Monthlong Solo X-pedition
Eat yer hearts out, y'all, cause I got my reservations set and itinerary planned (still waiting to receive detailed maps, however).

Flyin' from NY (LGA) to SEA on 6/28. Arrive there at 1:00 a.m (6/29). No sleep that night, but plenty of time to accomplish a lot.

Catch bus or Amtrak to Mt. Vernon, WA. Receive gen'l delivery at p.o. of empty stove, containers and bear spray (verboten und der airlines). Catch # 117 bus (Skat.org) to Newhalem and the mountains (50 cents a trip). Finagle a ride to Ross Dam (10 mi. or so.). Or walk.

Hike across Pasayten Wilderness, generally on Boundary trail, but implementing a circuitous route to take in as many of the amazing alpine areas as possible.

11 or so days later, pick up supplemental food cache mailed ahead to Loomis,WA.

Hike back over different circuitous route. Anticipated trail mileage, 300+.

Finally stagger back into Newhalem, a wizened visage peering from 4-weeks' recent solitude. Catch the same bus, etc. Cheap flight (paid $240. r/t thru Priceline) back to LGA on 7/26.

Maybe you're going to Alaska or Baffin Island or someplace. But I'll bet that y'all would be hard-pressed to top such a b/p'ing odyssey.

Wow. Am I jealous.
I've got a new (12 weeks) puppy so I haven't been out much in a while and hearing about a trip plan like this makes my toes itch for my hiking boots.
Let us know how it goes!

Wow Varmit, that does sound like fun and I wish you the best of luck. I look forward to your trip report when you get back.

Speaking of month long trips, I have been offered an all expence paid month of hunting/backpacking trip in SC.

This is one trip I`d love to do, but I don`t think I`ll be able to do it. That`s a few months away still and a lot could happen between now and then. It might be that I can, if not, I`ll just have to read your trip reports and feel like I got to go along with you on yours.

GOOD LUCK....

Wow ... a month of solitude in the wilderness. That will probably never happen in my life, but I can experience it vicariously through you, Varmit! Be sure to post a trip report when you get back. LOL ... don't EVEN break a leg!

Be sure to give the rangers your itinerary and let them know when you expect to reach your checkpoint at Loomis.
