“Mike, I mentioned something about that Roadster a while ago. Laqtis pointed out that the rain fly doesn't go all the way to the ground, so there's a chance for some moisture that way.

Backpacker mag had a blurb about it in the Gear Guide recently.”

“Oh yah it's okay. Mostly healed up now. It wasn't that bad, but I didn't want to risk splitting it open while working and infecting it.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to use it in a couple of weeks on the AT. I'm still planning a week's trip, but as the scheduled dates draw nearer, it looks less and less like I'll go. I may put it off a month or more, depending...”

“Splurged on REI "The One" Nice jacket. Wore it around in the rain and it worked nice for being only "resistant" Like the CD player pocket feature too.

Needed to use up my REI bucks from all the returns I've made.”

“Just ordered up a Kelty Vortex 3. Its only seven pounds and 56 square feet (plus two doors w/ vestibules). It's our official camping with the kiddo tent. STP had it on sale/closeout for $100 off. Found some awesome reviews of it. It seems to be the biggest and lightest tent out there for family backpacking.”

We've got a Kelty Vortex 4 and have had it for years. It's our car camping palace. It's a great tent. I love the two large vestibules and the two doors. It seems to get pretty good ventilation, too.”

I just got my Duofold boxer breifs from Campmor, along with socks, pack cover and a rain suit. And an ugly green Duofold t-shirt.”

Also got a nifty little Red Ledge Range Roamer parka for Abby. It's a raincoat basically, from campmor. It's not easy finding lightweight clothing/gear for a 2 1/2 yr old. Most everything is at least $39. This was clearanced for $12.99. It's a great little jacket.”

“Now, that's not the exact one we bought, but looks the same. We had an orange 1974 Westy a few years back and have really regretted selling it. Now we've got one that goes faster and has heat! Camping at trailheads and with the kiddo has just gotten much easier. We've dubbed t the Mystery Machine.”
