Why is this not considered racist?

“I had an interview once in which the h.r. person actually told me (trying to sell me) "we got no niggers here in (this town)". I took the job (for the $$$) and, true, there were no blacks. What there was, though, was some of the grungiest, dumbest, drunkest, most violent, and generally backassward bunch of "trash" that I had ever met. It made me miss suburban Detroit and my former neighbors including the blacks.

Not everybody was like that. Not even the majority. The point is that being slimy is not exclusive to any one race.

Others will chime in and mentioned how they or someone they know or someone in the news was hurt or victimized by some group and how they are justified in passing judgment on others based on this experience. kleetn, I didn't move because of the blacks, but I was looking for a more peaceful enviornment. My neighborhood in NY had loads of young Italian boys that were very disrepectful to women. There was no where else in NY that I felt like moving to. I moved here for hiking and the beauty of WA, and a nicer enviornment.

What am I doing to foster better relations between whites and blacks. The answer is nothing. On a one to one basis, I treat everyone the same. I'm not going out of my way to coddle anyone if thats what you mean.

I had a black women in my bldg that wanted to be friendly with me. I certainly didn't turn her away. We were friends, but know she moved. She was a lovely lady.

From my perspective, any neighborhood that is all one nationality can be overwhelming in certain ways.

Very seldom do I hear an actual senario where the person had any violent encounter with any other nationality.
Some people just need grasp at anything to justify thier hatred.
Years ago a group of white people tried to lynch my uncle. Does that give me any right to hate white people. I hate the people that did this to my uncle, but not an entire race.

I like you Lips, but you need to listen to some real live black people before you make silly assumptions like that. Those are incredibly ignorant questions, because they rest on falsehoods.

Most Black people I've known are concerned about criminals in their neighborhood, they know about black criminals and they want them in jail. They have no illusions about black skin conveying some kind of innocence.”

Sometimes a minority can blend in comfortably until something happens that is beyond description and belief.
If everyone in the minority and everyone in the majority was willing to make adjustments and accomodations life would be a lot easier.

Blending in has something to do with avoiding the attention of the police. Any teenager, regardless of color, learns this pretty early after receiving the drivers license. Adults prefer to drive cars with local plates when visiting other states. You never want to stand out. For minorities, this issue is especially of concern and fear. I don't like the fact that they are treated differently, and yet I hesitate to tell the police what to do because I am not willing to strap on a gun and take their place. The answer is to do what it takes to get a racially diverse group of quality police officers and then let these good officers decide how best to catch the criminals.”

to the WASPs who feel so threatened by so-called "reverse racism" -- ask yourself:
1. Have I ever been "assumed guilty" by the police because of the color of my skin?
2. Has a store clerk ever "not wasted" his/her time on you because you were black?

I know of a black college student, right here in small town Iowa, who was beat up at his part-time job. The employer says: "It takes two..." If you think this happens "just as often" against whites, then you are (IMHO) very much mis-informed. (pardon the grammer...)

I don't understand how can you say, "Just get over it" while you rant and rave for two days?! Don't you see the irony of that?

We have lowered the bar so much in this country that her first two years in college was review for her!”
