“When I graduated from High School (1971), Arkansas Power and Light Co. was in the process of hiring some new people for expansion of services. I thought it would be a great oportunity to get a good job that had a pretty good future (for someone that didn't want to go to college) I went down and applied. There were nine of us made it to the interview process. Myself another white guy and seven blacks. The interviewer told me (to my face) that I had the highest score on the test and the interview process but that the company had to hire twenty two blacks before they could hire another white person. This really pissed me off, but I didn't lay down and die or cry baby for the rest of my life, I got on with my life and I think over all i'm probably better off than i would have been. I don't dislike anybody because of their race, I never really think about it, but i do dislike people that take advantage of the government or the system just to get a free ride. My wife is a court reporter and she is exposed, on a daily basis, to the uglyest side of people and their personalities, and she said that bad behavior is not limited to any one race. I really don't understand all the anger, but i do remember riding a public bus in Hot Springs with my grandmother when i was about six or so. When we got on the bus i ran to the back to sit on the big back seat that went across the back of the bus. My grandmother told me to come back up front, the back seat was for the black people. That wasn't being a racist to her it was just the facts of life. DIFFERENT TIMES, JUST LET IT GO!”

Now. Bacpac, your right, I didn't talk about the black side of my family or my black racist friends. You know why? They are racists. They don't like white poeple. Which in turn means that they don't like me (half black, remember). So I don't have any dealings with them. They tried to reconcile with my family a couple of years ago because they realized what they missed. they didn't talk to their own brother (my father) for 27 years because he fell in love with a white girl (my mother, yes they are still together today). And I will not associate with them at all. They are racists.
As I said before, I do not condone racism. I detest racism. Be it white on black, or black on white or whichever way it shows it's cowardly face. And I reiterate racism is cowardly.
I have lost, what I thought were friends, over racism. Black and white. If they make racist comments or commit racist acts, I cannot justify it. I cannot remain friends whith someone knowing that they think that way. For me, they are untrustworthy.

One more thing. If my generalizations are pissing you off, think how I feel with other peoples generalizations about me.”

Remember the pledge of allegience to the flag? "...and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands..." The majority does not RULE in our country, nor should it. (The majority "rule" against minorities was the tragic case in Nazi Germany.) We are ruled by law, not by majority. To be ruled by majority allows for lynchings, as long as the majority says, "Oh, that's OK," or as long as the majority says or does nothing to stop it.

No, I don't want to be treated differently than any-one else. No, I don't want to get a job I don't deserve because of the color of my skin. That is the same thing that black people have been fighting about. I think that every drug dealer should be shot. I also cannot stand it when black people piss and moan about slavery. That was a long time ago, and there is not a simgle person alive who was an american slave. Although I know that not having a known heritage is a constant source of irritation. I don't like the fact that we change our name from colored to negro to black to people of color to whatever the hell is P.C. because it confuses the hell out of people. I hate it when a hole black community riots because a cop killed a black kid while the kid was commiting a crime.

Just because someone has had a bad experience with a race all their lives does not make it "OK" to not like that race. It is basically making judgements about millions of people based on the actions of a few. If you have had statistically significant negative interactions with blacks or hispanics, or asians or whomever (like over 1 million "bad interactions") maybe you can have issues. Till then you are just being a bigot.

Second, if you are white, you have benefited by being white. And yet we continually curse and scream when minorities get a tiny fraction of the preference we have come to expect. I mean, look how long this thread is...and how many minorities have chimed in?

What I have been saying is that I have rejected the blacks in my family because they are racists. I have also rejected white people who were my friends because they are racists. The whites o my mothers side are absolutely not racists, so I have had no reason to reject them. I dislike racists equally no matter what race they are.
