RE: Who Have You Met??
I have met my brother, sirpete, but only briefly during the adolescent years, bpbaby and barb. After talking with sirpete this week tho, there are a bunch of you I want to meet and still others that should probably given a WIDE berth..like bacpac, loungelizard, etc...

Happy Trails!!

walkindude -

Sirpete had nothing but good things to say about you..but I was in particular asking about the unattached men on this forum..I'd love to hike with the married guys as well, as long as the wives are cool with that... don't want to tick anyone off...I'm harmless, really!!

RE: Who Have You Met??
I haven't met anyone yet, but, my Province door is always open. I think it may be up for sale soon, so come on up for a look.

Washington's a regular trip. I loved that Cascade Loop on the Harley. And the Gorge at George is awsome.

Also Montana's definitely on the list, so I hope to meet a few of you, at least.

RE: Who Have You Met??
bc_trailguy, there's a guy from BC who used to frequent this place until Radagast chased him off (HikerBoy). Canada's small, you know everybody, right? Anyway, he posted something on Outdoor Review's forum about getting a bunch of PNW hikers together for a hike--you might check that if you're interested.

BTW, I agree about the Gorge. Here's a few pics from there.

RE: Who Have You Met??
There is no one here that could EVER chase Hiker Boy off. He left because he wanted to.

trail_guy, I'm looking to ride my Yamaha Virago 535cc up to Jasper some day. Have you ever gone there on your bike?

RE: Who Have You Met??
Lipstick- I rode the Rockies few times. That is.. before my girl got stollen.

My favorite run was a loop trip up the Coquihalla & Hwy 1 to Banff- then North up the Parkway to Jasper- and back down the Yellowhead Hwy & Fraser Canyon. What a Ride! It's tough to keep your eyes on the road.

I remember one year when it was about 110 degrees riding through the desert around Merrit. I think I burnin' more oil than gas! Two days later it was down to freezing in Jasper. Just your typical B.C. weather.

I sure do miss her.. especially in the Spring.

Hey Kleetn- those shots sure bring back a few memories... that warm breeze blowin' up the Columbia. Oh Yaah. I saw some great shows, there. What show were those pics from?

Pathman, Yes the last time I checked I was still a woman. Thanks Mary for correcting him. I do forget things, but I'm sure I would remember hiking with some of this bunch. My hubby and I are going to be at NAU on 7/2 and 7/3 to help with the incoming freshman. We did it last year and had a blast. I'm hoping we can stay over and do a hike. What trail do you suggest?

RE: Who Have You Met??
bc_trailguy, nooooooo, say it isn't so. Those b@$tards stole your girl? In Seattle, they have a bike on display that will be given away for a charity, someone backed up a tuck & stole her!

Sounds like great scenery up there in the Great North Way. I've got to get up there whether by bike or by car.

RE: Who Have You Met??
Ya Lipstick I'm afraid so. '82 Shovel and I had her since new (obviously, I was just a teenaged kid then). And here I thought I was in a secure part of town. Last week the b@$tards swiped the doors off my Jeep. What next?

Anyway, be sure to post if your headin' this way. Happy ridin' Sniff.. Sniff..

RE: Who Have You Met??
bc_trailguy, I'll definitely let you know if I head up your way. Thieves troll the better neighborhoods to find the good stuff to steal. My hubby always keeps his expensive new RSV Aprilia Mille (race bike) covered so people driving by don't see what type of bike it is. Every little thing helps.

It's really cool to ride the ferries in WA on a bike, because the bikes load first. Cars may not make it on, but all the bikes will. A lot of us chat together, and we all ride off together in groups as big as 40 bikes. It's a lot of fun.

My bike is chained to a thick metal staircase railing, and I always put on my front wheel lock. A person would need mega size bolt cutters and a flatbed to pick the bike off the ground, which isn't impossible to do if "they" want it.

RE: Who Have You Met??
Ya Lipstick I miss that VIP service on the ferries. Getting over to the island can be a real chore these days.

Best you can do with those thievin' b@$tards is slow them down. My girl was 'Cobra Link' chained to a '95 Softail and then to the pipe. They grabbed them both.

The worst part is, it was the last ride of the year, and she was supposed to have moved to storage that day, but never quite made it.

RE: Who Have You Met??
I truly feel your pain, and would be shocked to go outside and find my "curb jumper" not there. Then to know your bike was so close to being put in storage. What a tradgedy!

They still haven't recovered the bike that was to be donated to the charity out here in WA, and I fear they never will.

When something of value disappears around us, you know it must have something to do with being near the shipping lines. It's no coincidence that your bike and the one from here were made in America Harleys, ripe for a trip overseas.

I've never met anyone...........yet.

Wow Kleetn! What a cool place to watch Dave Mathews! I only got to see him in a stuffy, enclosed Arco Arena in Sacramento. Shoot, it looks like you're watching him from the edge of the world!

BC trailguy, sorry to hear about your bike. Lipstick hiker--you & your hubby are so lucky to be able to "ride" to some of your trailheads! How cool is that?! I love bikes!

RE: Who Have You Met??
AZ--Go up Mt Humphreys. Go up hwy 180 to the Snow Bowl. It will be in any hiking book you have. If you are short on time go up Mt Elden. Take hwy 89 north of town--the trail is on the west side of the road just north of the mall. Nice views from the top and they let you climb their fire tower.

RE: Who Have You Met??
Lipstick- Whoever grabbed that charity bike will surely rot in Hell. I thing you're right about the shipping. The Mounties, at the time suspected Russia. Apparently there's quite a market now for the HDs as well as Mercedes etc.

Hickerchick- The Gorge is very cool. You should try to see a show there if you get the chance... any show.

I had a great time Sunshine! Thanks! Are they whispering around town?

Oh, BTW, hiking was really fun. It turned out to be as much of a jeep rally as a backpacking trip, but we had lots of fun. That shoreline is just amazing - rocky and wild. And that whole tip area is kind of an outlaw place.

We had loons serenading us every night. Way cool!

I have been flogged by some who I missed...

I "Freedom" hereby officially add the lurker and hiker "ALPINE" to written documentation of those whom I have had the always eventful pleasure of sharing some dust, rain and mud of the trail with as we embarked on a TT journey into the wilderness and the not so wild. May it be dually noted that "ALPINE" never made public knowledge that he indeed was a TT contributor during those damp and rainy days, thus my oversight of the said "ALPINE" was not intentional on the part of her royal "Freedom"ness.

Thanks to Pamsters post, also add these to the list:

Been good friends with twigeater for two years, and we still haven't met. We had plans get cancelled on us twice - once when I was practically in the car to leave. We're planning on trying it again this Fall. And I might be in NH in September, so maybe I'll pop on over to the group that's forming.
