“Now that I?ve thought about this for a minute, I see that the task can be accomplished with only two adult friends. Here are the steps:

1. All of the Happy Campers (adults and children) plus two Helpful Friends proceed to the take-out in three vehicles.
2. At the take-out, one vehicle is left and everybody proceeds in the remaining two vehicles to the put-in.
3. At the put-in, the Happy Campers proceed into the woods. The Helpful Friends proceed in the two vehicles back to the take-out.
4. The two vehicles are left at the take-out, and the two Helpful Friends go home in the third vehicle that was left there.

“You still have the problem of unsupervised kids at the end of the trail when both adults need to leave to get the other car to come back and pick up the kids they couldn't fit in the car that was left.

You can do this with only one extra person if they are willing to meet you at the end as well.”
