7,000 Meters
This is a day to remember -- just accepted a position a base camp manager and cook for an expedition to China's Muztagata (7546 Meters). Leaving in one month... covers all costs except getting my b*tt to China. Yahoo!

Wow! Great deal, ThunderTrain. You are one hardcore honey. I don't think I will ever get as into this as you are, but hey, I'm just starting.

Seriously, How would you get by if you don't speak Chineese? (Assuming you can't)

RE: 7,000 Meters
Dude,

Twenty some odd years ago Jimmy Potts was a guy who worked in Arkansas as a balif, security guard, CIA agent or who knows. I met him on Jury duty one time. My brother knew him as shopping mall security. My brother-in-law met him at a Federal employee seminar. My sister met him somewhere else.

One year our family, who lived in different parts of the State, met at a Fourth of July airshow at the Rockefeller's farm. Who did we see in a three piece suit in the middle (beginning) of July? You guessed it. First my brother shakes his hand, then my brother-in-law says something, then I say, "How do you know Jimmy Potts?" Then my sister says, "Do you know Jimmy Potts?"

Well we all knew this guy Jimmy Potts from different situations and then we see him at a dirt airstrip in the middle of nowhere. For years we would see him on the news periodically as a bailif and at any odd events around the state.

You never knew where Jimmy Potts would show up, but everyone knew him. He dies a few years ago. He was like a real life Waldo.

Where's Walkindude?

I am really jealous, ever since my own project fell through due to frozen water pipes and illness in the family. Have a great time and don't forget to tell us about afterward.

RE: 7,000 Meters
Needless to say, I completely stoked -- regarding the language difference it shouldn't be that much of an issue, as all we'll need to do is buy food, arrange transport, porters, etc. Money always talks, I've found out. Hey, does Matt have any TT t-shirts or something? Maybe I can get a photo of myself wearing one lounging around base camp or something.

RE: 7,000 Meters
The little hill hopping I do around here kills me. 7000 meters is a long way up. When you get to the top, just thing to yourself, Everest is only one more mile... straight up.

I am such a puss.

RE: 7,000 Meters
Watch out, there is a lot of anti-American sentiment in China now. I hope it all goes well.
