“Okay, so there are a few youngsters and then a lot of forty and fifty somethings. Why? Because the first twenty years of our adult lives were tied up in school, career, having babies and buying or building or renovating a home. My husband and I feel like for the first time since we met, we finally have time to take a breath. Our first house was like in the movie "The Money Pit" except that it wasn't a mansion. Our first year anniversary was spent on a scaffold, re-siding the house.

So I don't feel the least bit old now. I feel like I'm almost free. My youngest will be in school all day starting in September. The kids are helping with the housework. I do the yardwork. When the weekend comes we all finally have the free time to go hiking, camping, sightseeing. Sometimes my health interferes, but most of the time life is really good. You are only old just before you die.”

“Correction, Youngandcreaky, you are only old when you start thinking it. My great-grandmother passed away about a month ago. She lived to see four generations of her family be born. I am pretty certain that she passed thinking that her body just wouldn't corporate. Also, if you are careful and decide what your priorities will be you can have job, kids, school, a home, and free time. I give less time to the job. I have less money for things, but I move about once or twice a yr., so it just means less to pack. Just a little bit 'o newgirl philos-O-fie for yaz'! HeHeHe!”

“I've found that you start thinking about it when your body starts to do things and act in ways that it didn't used to. Exercise is a must, but it's amazing what the body can come up with for weird little aches and pains even when you're not exercising. I didn't used to experience that nearly as much and I'm in pretty good shape. Just an experiential point of view.”
