If it were up to me, we would keep every murderer in jail forever - no executions - just for the sake of that one innocent person.

The native Americans had a ritual for punishment that made a lot of sense. An offender would be tied to a stake with firewood piled at his feet. The loved ones of the person murdered would pile the wood and light the fire.

This accomplished:
1) The offender was punished, and removed from the population.
2) The victims were given closure (and their need for revenge satisfied). If they chose, the offender could be spared.
3) The population was deterred from committing similar offences by witnessing the punishment.
4) An offendeder could still die with relative respect and dignity by accepting their fate courageously.”

I have absolutely no sympathy for McVeigh, but what does it say about us as a society to want to resort to torture or to watch a prisoner die? Nothing we do will bring back the victims.”

What I have to say next I say knowing that I would be subject to the laws I suggest;

Revamp the appeals process, Two, no more. Revamp the sentencing structure. 10 Years Maximum...Anything requiring more results in death. Dig big holes at the exit to every jail. If the jail is full when you arrive to serve your sentence, pick the person that has the most time left to serve, escort him to the exit, and shoot him, you take his bed...when the hole is full, move out a few feet and dig a new hole. Brings a whole new meaning to deterence when you know that your fellow criminals can get you killed by doing a crime you know nothing about...You would not want to go to jail.”
