“I work 7:30-5 or 6 or 7, taking 30 minutes for lunch , which is usually a meeting or discussing patient care. Today was the first slack day I have had in months. Check that email? Ok. Health news, updates from my professional colleges, public health information, leadership and business links, notification my new journals online.

Also working on a Masters degree in Medical Management on the side, evenings and weekends. I'm one of those that wants things to better for patients than it is now. I don't charge by the hour, I charge for a service. While I had down time I was generating no charges.

Meetings at 0700 a couple times a week. While I was bored and chatting I was reading a landmark article on errors in medicine. While I am scanning photos right now, I am reading about e-health and a blue print for healthcare in the future. I'm at home. I wake up at 0500 and read or do online continuing ed online. Oh yeah, I do that while I drop in here.

I am blessed, there is no question, but there is also no question that I have worked hard for a long, long, long time to be here and continue to work hard to keep up. I am blessed to serve patients and the doctors taking care of them.

I am also more liberal than Jeffords and more conservative than Ted Kennedy with some definite Libertarian leanings. I am not sure if I am a Jeffersonian Democrat or a Lincoln Republican. Maybe both.
