Ursack Ultra Approved?
Thought people should know...

Roseymonster--

The Ursack Ultra is conditionally approved. It must be tied in an overhand knot and secured to a tree or rock. In zoo tests, the contents of the Ursack Ultra were mashed and the knot had been pulled so tight that it took the zookeeper 40 minutes to untie. Regardless of the condition of your food or sack, everything must be carried out of the backcountry.

Conditional approval is given to any container that has passes visual inspection, an impact test and a zoo test. Full approval is given to any container that has done the above and has been successful during three months of field-trials in the summer. Either type of approval may be revoked due to unexpected problems in the field that either lead to failures, injuries, or resource damage.

You have probably already seen our web pages providing bear
information. If not, you may visit them at the following address:

Thanks for your interest.

I just read this posting and I am wondering if this is true:

NEWS ALERT FOR YOSEMITE, SEQUIOA/KINGS CANYON AND INYO CAMPERS:

June 4, 2001

The Ursack Ultra **** has been approved for use in Yosemite, Sequoia / Kings
Canyon and Inyo National Parks for the 2001 season.
Campers in those areas using any Ursack other than the approved Ultra run
the risk of SIGNIFICANT FINES
Our standard bags are acceptable in most other areas.
We expect to have the approved Ultra available for sale soon

This is their site: http:

http://www.ursack.com/home.html

Can you confirm that the Ursack is indeed approved and legal.
Thanks for the help.
