The new gear thread.

“I just got home from campmor, I bought a pair of boots and a knife. Last year I when by TTers info and bought a pair of vasque clarion boots, and fell in love with the great fit in seconds. I never had a better fitting shoe in my life. So this year when I out grew my old pair, guess what I bought this year?.......Is that your final answer?....Well your wrong I didn't by the same pair!!! Ha Ha fooled yah. I bought the gore-tex version of the boot, same boot same fit (just one size large) and gore. I never had any real trouble with the water until these last few months so now I bought the gore ones. I highly recomend this pair of boots to any hiker.

Next up is my new knife. I have never owned a real knife, and by that I mean I have allways owned swiss-army, and other cheap crap knives. They are good knives to learn on, but hey they aren't that great of a tool. So I bought a "Columbia River K.I.S.S" knife.
Let me tell you this sucker is sharp. I have see it in use by 2 other poeple. My one friend cut him self really bad with it, however I now see how he did it. He did 1 major thing wrong. Its hard to explane so I'm not going to. However he was carving with the knife, and I have no intencense to carve with it. I just need it to cut rope and little stuff.

So do you guys have any new gear?”

“I got a new bear cannister in the other day. It'll sit in the gear room till it's cooler out.”

“Just bought a new (2000)truck. Holds lots of gear.”

“Bear canister? never used one. I'm a bear bag type of guy. This is my metod. I put all my food (stake, hamberger meat, salmen, and honney for my tea) all in my sleeping bag with me. So when the bear comes I give him a nockin' on the noggin' with my maglight.

What size boot you in? I've got a pair of Vasque Clairion GTX's you could have. Mens size 8 I think. I hate those boots! Vasques just weren't made for my feet.”

“Father's Day was good to me. I got a little Princeton Tec II LED flashlight with an on-off switch. Now, I can hike with Jerbear and Naked Ape! Oh yeah, and a low cut pair of sock liners. Getting ready for the Lama Rama.

“My kids bought me an air mattress to float on in our new pool. After our company left I feel asleep testing it out and got somewhat sunburned.”

“Just got the Precipice Pack by Granite Gear in the mail. Nice pack for sure. Everything I could want and meets the claims for 99.00 bucs on sale.
Holds my bear canister too, which I did not think it would do.
Also found and purchased a tent that has been out of production for quite a few years. The Sierra Designs "Divine Lightning". Found one on another site. Single wall, one person, 4 season for under 3lbs. Looking forward to finally getting my hands on one. Been looking and missing out on scoring one of these rare tents for about two years.
New gear sure puts me in a better mood.”
