RE: Gaining weight
Hit the weights. Find a gym, get an appointment with a trainer, and set up a program. You may also just be an ectomorph (think Bruce Lee). Crap food is great for a beer belly, if thats what your looking for.

RE: Gaining weight
Yo! Tea, you sound like a growing boy so just give it some time. You probably just started getting the gonad fuzzy a few years back.

What do your parents or older siblings look like? Their stature should provide a little clue on what you should expect to look like in the future, provided your not adopted and your parent a fat slothes.

Just eat well!!! You should not want a whole lot gain if you plan to be a runner. Tone and define what you have and the mass will follow.

RE: Gaining weight
Tea, what is the crap you are eating? It is summer, eat the freshest, healthiest food you can find. You are growing still, it is VERY important that you feed that growth with chicken, beef, salmon, eggs, milk, dark leafy greens and salad, cabbage, carrots, peppers of all colors, tomatoes, lots of garlic, and fresh herbs. How can your bones, nerves and muscles grow if it doesn't have the vitamins and Minerals? Your brain is probably at its' peak and what you eat determines how long you stay that way. Of course, only a dictionary will help your spelling.

You have the summer, spend some time learning how to cook. If your mom doesn't like that, tell her that this way you won't die of food poisoning when you go to college. Your library has books to start you off, but they are really old, try to get healthy cookbooks at your warehouse club cheap. Remember eat as little processed food as possible. A baked potato is better than potato flakes. Eat the flakes on the trail, when you can't have fresh.

Tae
When I was your age I don't think I weighed 100 pounds. Your pretty active so calories don't stick to ya. I still don't eat very healthy but but I'm a fit 175 - 180. The only reason I weigh that much is because I'm not as active as I've been in the past.
One day you may find yourself with a gut. You'll be wishing you were skinny again.

RE: Gaining weight
Weight fluctuation is normal. You'll gain it back and then probably lose more again. Don't sweat it. My son goes up and down all the time. As long as the long term (6 months or more) result is a net gain and you continue to gain height, you're fine.

One way to gain weight is to learn how to cook. You would also make your Mom very happy.

Did your doctor tell you that 106 pounds was abnormally low for a sixteen year old boy? Was the traffic to the Doctor's office very bad?

RE: Gaining weight
Tea- Never complain about being slim. It's alot more fun than being overweight. I'm 37 and still have a wickedly fast metabolism. I can enjoy eating 'alot', of anything I like, while most of my friends worry about counting calories. The only thing that weighs on me, is the size of my grocery bill. He He

I see. Ice Tea, be young while you're young. You'll spend the vast majority of your life as an adult. No sense rushing it. Personally, I refuse to grow up.

Biz's advice: Tea, hang with mature folks some of the time, but get a taste of newgirl types, so you know what you're missing... Ü

As for your weight...I like skinny guys, always have. It is a myth that all women like buff Schwarzenager guys

RE: Gaining weight
Tea - If the doctor says you are healthy, it is too early to worry about your weight. Check this out:

Age 14 - 99 lbs
Age 15 - 120 lbs (lifted weights all year)
Age 18 - 137 lbs, 5'8"
Age 19 - 190 lbs. 5'10" (my first yr of college!!!)
Age 39 - 225 lbs. 5'9"
Age 40 - 166 lbs. (thanks to Weight Watchers)
Age 52 - 160 lbs. (thanks to backpacking)

I ate four meals a day in high school to try and gain weight but couldn't. My freshman year in college I exploded. Eat nutriciously now and you will be fine.

RE: Gaining weight
Tea, its sounds like you have that Kate Moss look going strong.

There isnt much point carrying extra weight (even muscle) unless you use it everyday, and if that were the case you would naturally gain the weight needed without excercise. Just make every ponud you have strong and efficient. Also there is alot to be said for muscular control.

Tea - I gained my weight because of institutional food...lots of starch. I didn't drink any alcohol then. Also, lots of late night snacks.

RE: Gaining weight
My 12 year old daughter could kick your @ss, paste-eater!

Here's a curse someone put on me when I was 117 pounds: One day your metabolism will change and you won't be able to eat like that.

Enjoy it while you can.

RE: Gaining weight
yeah, metabolism! when i was younger, i went through spurts of being practically anorexic, and eating everything in sight (probably partially due to taking ballet classes for 12 years, and seeing all those skinny-skinny girls all the time). anyway, no matter what i ate, i was skinny as hell. then, in college, i literally gained the freshman 15, all-of-a-sudden-like. i'm pretty small now, and eat basically everything in sight...and everyoone always tells me it will catch up to me someday...i think age and metabolism have a lot to do with weight, no matter what you eat.
