Numbness
Got a question...

Every since I got back from my hike into Havasupi (May 18th) I have had a numbness in my left arm. No pain, just one area that has no feeling on the surface. Has anyone experienced this before. My daypack only weighed about 15 lbs.

Should I be concerned?

RE: Numbness
Yes you should be concerned. You have pinched a nerve. The feeling will come back, but there is something wrong with your backpack fit.

RE: Numbness
Thanks Bacpac, that's what I thought and I was hoping it would be gone by now, It's been a month. I'm going camping and day hiking this weekend for 5 days. I can lighten my pack for the day hikes so I think I will be OK.

I love the support from radagast, I feel much better now, I think... haven't gone to the big trail in the sky yet.

RE: Numbness
Ooohhh. Numbness in the left arm?

That happened to a guy my friend knew one month to the day before he lost control of his bladder. Poor bugger still wears a diaper.

See a doctor and a chiropractor.

RE: Numbness
The heavier the pack, the more likely the numbness.

It is transient.

If it don't hurt, don't worry.

Unless it is a heart attack.

If you ain't dead now....

It ain't a heart attack.

RE: Numbness
For almost two months now I have had a constant numbness on my right thigh. At times it has this buzzing feeling and it feels at times as if the muscle has lost its elastisity. Made a doctors appointment but unfortunately I missed it. It seemed to start when I was on a long drive home from a conference. It was/is a pinched nerve I thought it would have gone by now.

RE: Numbness
I heard a story in the news a month or so ago about this problem that one can get if the remain packed in a chair for longs periods of time. It focus on the airlines industry and the close quarter seat arrangement that does not allow ample leg room to stretch. Something that had to do with impeding the blood flow in the legs. The recommended stand from time to time and walking about and avoiding long stints on your arse with little leg movement. I forget what those people had problem wise but all indictation pointed to sitting for long periods with limited leg movement.

I have an appointment on 6/21 8:45am.

RE: Numbness
Well how did you make out??

I have Thorasic Outlet Syndrome - both arms will go numb/tingling - There's a nerve that controls your circulation in your arms that can get cut off. Sucks.

RE: Numbness
Seriously you should see a doctor. But the good news is that alot of people have skin and muscle numbness. It is usually related to nerve damage, like a bruise. It will go away if that is the case, but you need a doctor to tell you what actually caused the numbness in the first place.

m&m, how'd you score the VIP tix? I'm jealous as hell.

Thorasic Outlet syndrome? Never heard of that one. My doc gave me wrist braces because both my hands go numb/tingling at night...he says it's carpal tunnel. The braces keep the wrists from bending.
