Great pics!! We were there right behind you! Hiked in on 6/1/01. Plan was to hike in by full moon, but the moon was already down by the time we headed down the trail.. However, we had the full moon on the hike out.. We had Mooney Falls to ourselves for several hours one morning before the "crowd" arrived. Did you check out Navajo Falls? They were fun too...

LH,
Awesome, Isn't that place great except for the toilets. Didn't make it down to Navajo Falls, my hubby has a bum knee and we were afraid he would get down but not back up.

How long did you stay?

Great place.

But I did it back in the early 70's when it was REALLY cosmic.

Before the toilets and before the floods.

Life was good, then.

GREAT pics, AZhiker. Really nice looking place. If I'm out that way in the cooler months I'll probably give it a walk.

Goofy foot,
I can't believe it, you where there! Wow. How did you like the 70 7th graders invading on Sunday?

We were camped right next door to them. They were kind of noisey during the day, but at 8pm every single one of them was quiet as a mouse. It was a surprise.

When we saw them coming in and setting up next to us we thougt for sure our weekend was ruined. They were great kids. I'd camp with them anytime. Polite, quiet, and clean.

Your pictures are awesome. Do you hike often in AZ? Sedona is one of my favorite places to hike, but its got to be cooler. I waiting for the temps to drop to the 80's.

Sweet baby, I have a grand daughter 10 month old.

RE: Havasupai Falls pictures
AZ & GF - Both great pics... I'll look thru mine to see if I have any different views/angles to add to yours.. My picture taking leaves a lot to be desired... I'm the one that can chop the "hood" off of Mt. Hood!! Oh well.. I figure that if I take 4 times as many pictures as necessary, I'll get 1 or 2 good ones.. :)

AZ - We hiked in on 6/1 at 4:30am... Were verrry relieved when they told us it was on 96 instead of the 100's as it had been..(until later.. of course!) However, it was definitely toasty enough to throw the packs down on the nearest picnic table and head for the falls!! We left the next afternoon after fall-hopping... Sitting in each falls until we had hyperthermia, then throw on the packs until the next falls.. Didn't make great time, but was a blast! We almost passed by Navajo Falls thinking that it was time to get up the trail and they surely couldn't be as beautiful as the others... I'm sooo glad we decided to stop! Very few people there and we swam into a little cove that was like an oasis... On the way out, hiking with the full moon (or close to it), we found a little caterpillar glowing along side of the trail.. We left him (or her) alone, cuz surely he was trying to be "glowingly" attractive to something other than us!!

RE: Havasupai Falls pictures
AZ,
Yeah, when I first saw that group it made me smile. I thought "wow, that would be a blast at that age." I wasn't concerned about potential noise, we camped a ways farther downstream, and on the opposite side of the stream. As far as AZ hiking goes, I've been living in Phoenix for close to a year now, so I've been hiking it quite a bit. I've b'pckd the superstitions, paria canyon, havasupai falls (obviously), sedona, and sycamore canyon wilderness. I'm hoping to do something in the four peaks area soon.

The day we hiked in (Sat. morning) was when the rain came through. When we got to camp, it started to rain, so the first thing I did after a long hike in was take a nap in the tent with a cool rain breeze and the stream running nearby.... ahhhhh, so peeerrfect! Now, where was that cool breeze on the way OUT?! =)

Lady Hiker--that was a glow worm.

AZHiker--Sedona is fine when it is hot in places like West Fork Oak Creek or Sycamore--just stay wet.

There are several threads, but I this is the one with the photo link.

Haven't tried it to see if it still works, but I remember seeing some more pictures somewhere.

I have to visit this place.
