Wall clouds
Gosh, I just got home and was followed mighty closely by wall clouds --HUGE TALL WALL CLOUDS-- lining the sky from the west to the north and even around to the east. All following me to the south Don't think that bodes well for good sleeping tonight....... And, when did storms quit coming from the southwest to the northeast??!?!? Man, they always did that when I was a kid.

Anyhoo, mark my words.... tomorrow I predict you'll be hearing about a bunch of nasty tornadoes in the Minnesota/Iowa vicinity.

Sign me, Scared of Storms, especially when I can't see what's coming

Hey liz, I lived in Iowa for 3 years, and I know what you are talking about. Those storms move in quickly, and the j hooks can be deadly, but i just love storms like that. It is natures way of cleansing everything around it! i hope all goes well, and nobody gets hurt due to the storms!

RE: Wall clouds
I'm in a mobile home. Another reason I FREAK when it storms. (a shakey :-) for you)

During the day, I get out and drive around when the sirens go off. LOL!! Not necessarily the smartest, BUT I can see what's going on anyway.

Tonight, if it hits early enough, well, I may just go hit a bar for a little calming beer. Meet ya there, Budha Bear! And say, BB, where in Ioway did you live? I'm in Northeast corner.

And, steve hiker, I have about 6 weather radars and N'tl Weather Service WARNING sites bookmarked. Of course, it all gets shut down and unplugged when the lightning starts in bad.

Yeah, I was at a city council meeting 35 miles north of where I live. Came outside and those clouds were just towering everywhere. Couldn't believe it!! And when I got home, they were here. Yikes-a-mundo!!!

RE: Wall clouds
Here's a good place to go to get warnings as soon as they're out. You just click on your state and go from there. I see as this storm treks across Iowa, tornado warnings have followed it.

I lived in Des Moines, and assuming that you are near Dubuque.

We had a couple fo tornados when I lived out there, thank God for the bar across the street from my apartment - it kept me safe!
