I especially want to meet Buddha Bear, Le Subtil, TXwoodswoman, Joy & Hyper ('cause they have a baby too), Violin ('cause he has a baby too), Gojo ('cause he's been to the same spot that was my very first bp), . . . “No, but I know of an Emerald Lake in the Bighorns. Real nice/easy walk in about 5-6 miles. Last 1/2 mile is slightly steep, but once there it is fantastic. Great scenery and fantastic fishing.

It has even been known to have some good horse riding up there.”

“I think Northwest has a camp in the Winds. I stayed there at freshman orientation. Met a hottie from Holland. Do you know anything about that?”

“I don't know about the Winds, but they do have that camp on Dead Indian.

Definitely don't know about any hottie from Holland.

Where is this Emerald Lake in the Beartooths?”

“Up at the top of East Rosebud. I called the Ranger Station in Red Lodge and they said the road is really wash board, but the camp area is nice. I'm not sure if you have to hike or if you can drive the rest of the way to the lake from the campsite. Dead Indian, your right. That's where it's at.”

“OK, I remember now, you have to hike in to Emerald Lake.

The hike starts out as flat and hot (Burn area) then it climbs pretty good. Unless Emerald is that little lake in just a couple of miles. I forget. If that is the lake, it gets really crowded with day hikers. (No skinny dipping there)

I know up the switchbacks there are a couple of really cool lakes made from old rock slides (Slide Lake ?).

I still think Granite Lake up on Beartooth Pass would be better.

Seriously, I'd like to meet everyone on this list. There isn't anyone I wouldn't want to meet. The one TT group hike I did go on, with Cindy_lu, Hyper, Joy, and Sunshine, and the Sunspots was a blast. Someone said "just like a family reunion, without the police".”

The campgrounds close to Cooke City are all real nice, with a lot of dayhike possibilities nearby.”
