RE: 85 miles, 8 blisters and 16 Lbs lighter,
16 lbs. lost! You need to hire a new cook. Last summer I did a 62 miler and gained a pound and a half!

RE: 85 miles, 8 blisters and 16 Lbs lighter,
The food wasn't that bad, and pounds came out of my little beer pouch and love handles. I'm working hard to gain it all back, I've never ate more food in a day than yesterday.

RE: 85 miles, 8 blisters and 16 Lbs lighter,
Wind Walker, I spent this past weekend in western Carson Iceberg W'nss and last weekend in Desolation and the skeeters were out in full force both weekends. I'm hoping they subside sometime soon as both the next two weekends will also be spent in the mountains.

RE: 85 miles, 8 blisters and 16 Lbs lighter,
The Skeeters were real bad in Yosemite. Especially around Smedberg and Wilmer Lakes. Swarms of Mosquitos!!!!! Luckly we had head-nets, and 100%Deet. We used up 2 bottles of 100%Deet per hiker.

The Streem Crossings weren't too bad, it could have been a lot worse.

Nekid,
Last June we did a 7 day 62 miler around the Forney Creek, AT, Hazel Creek, Lakeshore Trail Loop. Great time. Ate very well. Saw 2 bears up close and personal.

Can't wait for the pics; sounds like a hike of extremes. 16lbs in 85 miles? 8 blisters? Craziness. Just out of curiosity, did you have new boots or something? Or did you get them on your hands from hiking poles maybe?

RE: 85 miles, 8 blisters and 16 Lbs lighter,
Wow, Deja vu all over again. 2 years ago in Vermont I lost 12 lbs over 7 days & 88 miles, and if I had any skin left on me feet it would have been blistered. It's an old story, but it rained 5 days straight, and my boots weren't waterproof. Not sure which would have been worse though, cause the first two days before the rain I used 2/3rds of all my Deet.

Don't suppose you had that kind of rain, but still sounds like similar experiences. I know I felt good about having done it. Be proud dude!

RE: 85 miles, 8 blisters and 16 Lbs lighter,
ThinAir and Wall-Man,
On the 62 miler, I was the only one without blisters. I hike in a pair of New Balance 803's. Also, put duct tape where you might even think you might even have a problem (an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure).
