We got Longhorns on this site. Give 'em time to come out of the woodwork!

Guadaloupe National Park is really cool.
White Sands NP in New Mexico is good too.

There is a trails database on the main page of 'thebackpacker.com'

matt,thewebmaster has some cool links that we skip over to get to the insults and innuendos on TT.

RE: newby
Talavi;
I can't give any specifics(I'm an easterner) but when I bought a Kentucky Atlas and Gazetter I found a bunch of little parks in my area that I didn't know about. The books have pretty good color coded maps so they are easy to scan and also lists of parks, etc.

You can often find the books in outfitter shops and even truck stops some time. Here's a link for the Texas book that I just found;

Just my two cents. Maybe one of the other longhorns around here has it and can tell you if the Texas book is worth it.
