"the_backpacker" Gear Review Mystery

“As many of you know, I've spent the past several months researching some new gear, specifically, a new bag (I got the WM Hooded Aspen) and an additional pack.

Using Backpacker's Gear Guide as a starting point (when it first came out), I've focused on a couple of packs that meet some fairly rigid requirements; at least, they are for me.

Since I spend a lot of my "outdoors" time at this site, it seemed logical to explore the "Gear" section for input on the packs I'm considering. Problem is, no one seems to have posted much there since 1998 !!

I think it's time for an update, people... I can't help but wonder how many of us never EXPLORE this section, because we've been there, and found NO POSTS IN THE LAST 3 YEARS!!! Like, what would be the point, right? Yea, this is an exaggeration, to a degree, but look at them for yourself...

Frankly, I went there because I've found this site to be populated by a huge number of people whose opinions I trust, despite my never having met them. I'd really like to know what you think of the "new" gear you've bought, tried, loved or hated, used or abused, returned, refunded, destroyed, or still use with the same level of excitement as when you first bought/acquired it.

How about it, friends? Take a few minutes to post your reviews in the Gear Section, and give Matt a reason to refine it even more!”

“Well, having tried to post my OWN review, the system simply wouldn't take my "contribution"... Matt, is this section working?”

“I have been posting gear reviews once a month for the past two years. Are you telling me they were even added to the database???”

“I think the reason you don't see many reviews in the Gear Section is because TT is used as an all-purpose forum. Everybody just posts here, like I just did re the gravity filter.”

“You mean that there are other places besides TT on this webb site”

“I tried to submit to the AT shelter reviews when Matt introduced them. I sent him an e-mail saying that it didn't work. Never heard back from him. Tryed again last month, still no go.
Bummer.”

“I've only put up a couple of reviews in about 1 1/2 years. I don't use much state-of-the-art gear so I figured not many people would be interested.”
